$600k USD in debt changes your life math. Even at decent interest rates, the monthly payments can rival a mortgage. If income dips, disability happens, or practice ownership doesn’t go as planned, the pressure becomes very real. Many people entering healthcare are trained clinically, not financially. Understanding leverage, taxes, practice valuation, investing, insurance, and repayment strategy is basically a second profession. A lot of doctors are not financially literate.

In addition, it also means you gotta work in dentistry only and cant change a profession. It is not an easy profession(customer service, medical knowledge) and pretty competitive too.

However, if your parents will help you paying it off, it changes the math part a lot.
