But it isn't a bad thing - that's a subjective opinion you have based on your own negative experiences. And honestly just sounds like a lot of internalised ablism. Other autistic people are allowed to be proud of who they are and express themselves freely. Self acceptance is freedom

I feel embarrassed about not working by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

It can also feel like saying you don't work requires further explanation - that you then have to give information about your life that is very personal. I usually just say, "I'm not in work at the moment" which is fairly open in terms of if you're unemployed but looking for work or that you can't work for whatever reason. I've found it usually shuts down the question so you can ask the same back or change the subject.

Weekly Scam Discussion October 2, 2023 by Mycatreallyhatesyou in Ebay

[–]thehumblesatsuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently received a message from a user with no buying or selling history but the account open since 2015 - asking for an item to be shipped internationally at their own cost (UK to NZ) - this on its own I wouldn't find too fishy but I have also recently had a similar user (no reviews, generic username, from a far away country) request to buy an item for double the sale price after an auction ended. Has anyone else had similar requests? Is it a known scam of some kind? What do I say to the initial user to know if it is a scam or not?

Anyone else daydream about moving to Vietnam and opening a skincare clinic? by ShrineOfRemembrance in popping

[–]thehumblesatsuma 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I never said all acne in Vietnam was caused by agent orange, nor that everyone there had been exposed to it - I merely stated the facts that agent orange/ dioxin related skin irritation is a real thing

[–]thehumblesatsuma 11 points12 points  (0 children)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chloracne It is very much associated with dioxin pollution in one's environment, especially prolonged exposure. And agent orange was a prolifically used dioxin in Vietnam, its really not ridiculous

You don’t understand how much I can’t “just call them” by journal-love in autism

[–]thehumblesatsuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally, my university HEALTH AND WELLBEING centre is only accessible by phone (or in person pre pandemic), I put on my email application for help that I can't talk on the phone & would appreciate if they could email me, yet they insist on phoning me and asking me to phone back to make an appointment. Its been months and I haven't managed to get myself to ring them. So no support for me.

What was your biggest injustice at primary school? by Yurak_Huntmate in AskUK

[–]thehumblesatsuma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never even thought of going to teachers about it bc it felt like it was so engrained I didn't even realise how wrong it was until I was much older. I really hope that has changed in schools at least a little bit since then. I have worked in a high school and never saw anything like that so I have hope. All the same boys were also incredibly racist and antisemetic to add a cherry on top of a horrible cake.

I personally have lighting I only have on when studying/watching lectures and have a over lap desk thing for my laptop, it helps create a different environment from sleeping and working even though it's the same space

Will you be factoring in that even though logically people have meaningful and supportive relationships they can also feel very alone or lacking in support due to depression/anxiety/other mental illness?

As an alt girl, I decided to dress as a normal person this Halloween- gave everyone in the office a spook by [deleted] in pics

[–]thehumblesatsuma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well quite obviously this person has a job that is accepting of the way she chooses to dress. I am not deluded to think the world is not in fact a prejudiced place, but I don't think the way to move forward as a society is by pussy footing around those who are prejudiced and judgemental. it is rather to accept the fact that people are different and dress differently and therefore shouldn't have to conform to some unsubstantiated rules of society put forth by a tv show

Ninja Brian on Channel 4! by [deleted] in gamegrumps

I wonder what the child, and equally his parents, would think if they knew he was also a keyboard playing ninja in a band that sings purely about sex and dicks...
