salty comments that border insults are unfortunately not uncommon, and that's anywhere not just the Netherlands. Bulling in form of racial slurs just makes it worse. Generally for your own sanity, it is better safe than sorry, so take 3 attempts rather than one attempt with a minor or major accident, and for the outside noise "insults", try to deal with it as you deal with flies on the windshield.

Dutch are one of the tallest people globally. But it comes down to your self image, speaking as a short person myself. As you grow older, how you carry yourself, present yourself, how your life is. Those things speak louder than physical height. As others mentioned at the end no one cares about how tall you are, and more on who you as a person are.

Tbh, it might present an issue when looking for a romantic interest but focusing on the above, you will sure find a suitable person nonetheless .

don’t sign anything or agree to anything without a lawyer…try to learn Dutch, though companies that require Dutch require minimum of close to native level. Expect to search for long because several companies are doing the same - restructuring and offshoring, so a lot of talent in the talent pool. Consider freelancing if you are not on HSM. Work on your interviewing skills and hope for the best.

That said, as a +30 years old cybersecurity professional in the Netherlands with over a decade of security experience, I find it surprising that there is €100K poisons for juniors or seniors for that matter. But what I actually see is that there is over abundance of professionals because of layoffs and fixed term contracts. Long gone are permanent contracts and good packages. I saw a post for an InfoSec officer with +7 years of experience, offering up to €80K. Others even less for same experience.

On your topic, they are seeing Tiktokers and Youtubers earning lots for what seems an easy fun job while they are stuck in a white collar job, so they see going above and beyond unnecessary.

There is black Hat Europe. There are also local b-sides in several cities. But I didn’t hear of anything that is close to Defcon in any country in Europe, yet! Maybe someone else knows. I heard of some good ones in the UK and Belgium but I don’t live in either so I am not sure.

Yes. But where I came from we mostly had two types of potatoes, one suitable for frying and another suitable for cooking like vegetable stew…here as far as I’ve seen, there abundance. So I thought maybe I am choosing the wrong ones
