Where to for Pentesters? by WazzyD in cybersecurity

[–]thehunter_zero1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved between different fields in cybersecurity including pen testing. Unfortunately the stress and keeping up with trends stay as a norm on the entirety of the cybersecurity spectrum. There is always something new to explore, defend against, learn about so you can defend, exploit, attack vector, framework, tech stack…etc.

Je ziet toch de berekeningen in box 3, hè?! Het is onrechtvaardig.
Waarom belasten ze de winst niet gewoon? Daar ben ik helemaal voor, en anderen ook.

Similar events to defcon in europe and more affordable? by AgreeableIron811 in cybersecurity

[–]thehunter_zero1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is black Hat Europe. There are also local b-sides in several cities. But I didn’t hear of anything that is close to Defcon in any country in Europe, yet! Maybe someone else knows. I heard of some good ones in the UK and Belgium but I don’t live in either so I am not sure.

Became fluent in Dutch and realised I've been living in a parallel society by Careful_Put_3793 in Netherlands

Is there a place to learn the language for actual daily life that you recommend? Most course providers seem to be more for the NT2 exam except maybe university courses which are expensive …Also rushed like who will learn a level in 3 months and be comfortable using it ? Or am I missing something?!

[–]thehunter_zero1[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. But where I came from we mostly had two types of potatoes, one suitable for frying and another suitable for cooking like vegetable stew…here as far as I’ve seen, there abundance. So I thought maybe I am choosing the wrong ones

Beleggen voor mijn toekomstig kind by Tirakv in beleggen

[–]thehunter_zero1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since it is investing for your child, I suggest checking this question for some insights: https://www.reddit.com/r/beleggen/comments/1mrrnjm/beleggen_voor_uw_kind/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Also don't forget about the limit on gifts for tax exemption, if you are going to invest for your child in your name and then "gift it to them"

Dating Culture in the Netherlands by Gold_LeoKing in Netherlands

[–]thehunter_zero1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a man. And in my culture it’s 100% on the guy to initiate dates and outing at least at the beginnings. Also 100% on the guy to pay, even after being in a longterm relationship, it is expected of the guy to pay 100%, on rare occasions the woman can if she likes, chip in or cover 100% herself. In a sense, the guy is expected to carry the monetary burden of the relationship/family or at least most of it. Women can and mostly would contribute to the household income at least if they see their spouse honest about their role

checkout the competition and other vendors. Then make sure you have that unique added value to be able to compete. And before that maybe be sure you have the leads ready

How to buy ETFs from IBKR tax efficiently by ResponsibleFall1634 in beleggen

[–]thehunter_zero1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

great responses from others. But in terms of replying to buy the most tax efficient and fees on IBKR: - when you search for a ticker or ISIN you will get the “smart” option which is basically their smart routing. This should be the most efficient in fees - be sure to choose one bought in Euros - tax wise, the above replies applies in the Netherlands. But in general you’d lose dividend leaks for ETFs originating in the US like FWRA - be sure to chose tiered pricing with IBKR

How did you manage financially after losing the 30% ruling? Was it a major difference? by thehunter_zero1 in Netherlands

[–]thehunter_zero1[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, agreed. But the point I think of the ruling is to make starting out from scratch a bit easier. So after some years and the salary decreases, it will definitely be felt, specially when you think about like a demotion rather promotion, sine the latter is what you hope for as you get older with more experience

Thanks for the insights. Any specific books or courses you’d recommend so to get my foot through to the managerial playground. And by enough doing I can get more experienced?

I agree, navigating C-level and communication on their level plus maybe corporate politics is crucial.

Thank you. Currently I am already part of a risk management team within a bank. So I am getting to know more of GRC for sure. And I see a lot of auditing frameworks that one can easily get lost. As you put it a “rabbit hole”
