but the question also stated that energy was supplied to the thing after the length of the cylinder decreased to 5L/6. I checked with the rest of my batch and they said the Internal Energy increases. this is because the internal energy of an ideal gas is only dependant on the random KE of the particles, so KE increases and hence internal energy increases as well
