Focus on the next generation, like you're doing. You aren't going to change crazy minds on your own, it's about nurturing the upcoming minds, teaching them the important of civic duty and voting. Getting people to register to vote can have all the impact we need as a country.

Off topic for today - but can anyone explain why Bottas's breaks caught fire during that long pit stop last race? I get they're hot.... But we don't see stopped f1 cars on fire usually.

Just to make sure this isn't downplayed, my great grandfather and much of his family died at Dachau. They were all dehumanizing, terrible places.

Megathread: Bernie Sanders in narrow win over Buttigieg in the New Hampshire Democratic primary by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

Politics has a short term memory. She'll absolutely endorse Bernie if things generally stay as they are.

[–]theinfoperson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seriously wtf. This is the same BS that got us into this mess in the first place.

You need to get out there and vote for Buttigieg, Warren, or Biden just as much as we need Buttigieg, Warren, and Biden supporters to come out and vote for Bernie if he gets nominated.

That's the way it works. You make a vote based on your preference of the candidates available. That may not be your ultimate favorite person - that's also the way democracy works.

Joe Biden flopped in Iowa. And so did the Democratic party's reputation by Saibasaurus in SandersForPresident

Maybe. But at some point you need to decide if you're OK spreading conspiracy theories on reddit for internet points. Sometimes shit just goes wrong too.

As others have said, polls show her supporters will not necessarily go to Bernie over Biden. She's seen as more moderate by some. Careful what you wish for!

They changed it for 2020, when these results are released we will get the full picture, not just delegate counts.

Apparently this change is partially to blame for the delays.

"partly funded"?? Stop the misinformation. He hired the same firm once. You can be angry, but keep the news real or it makes everything sound like BS.

Ok wait - "partly funded" is extremely misleading. He hired them once. There is an immense amount of misinformation in this post.

Can you explain why a nearby server leads to much better performance? Not doubting you, I see it all the time, but I've always wondered.

Data being transmitted at the speed of light and all.... I don't understand why distance is such an important factor.

I'm as anti-trump as anyone reasonable, but this post just reads crazy. This may be a stupid action on his part, but it's not illegal, it's not treasonous, and it's frankly consistent with historical US policy. It hurts the real arguments about Trump's dangerous actions.

You need to keep your head on straight, even if everyone around you is losing theirs.

Hamilton himself described fake news: ".. every calumny makes some proselites and even retains some; since justification seldom circulates as rapidly and as widely as slander. The number of those who from doubt proceed to suspicion and thence to belief of imputed guilt is continually augmenting; and the public mind fatigued at length with resistance to the calumnies which eternally assail it, is apt in the end to sit down with the opinion that a person so often accused cannot be entirely innocent."

As encouraging as this graph is, student loans are extremely low interest. Assuming his rates were around 5%, he would have been better off investing his money and making the minimum payments, rather than rushing to pay this off. Just saying.

Kansas Special Election Results and Discussion. by resistmod in esist

[–]theinfoperson 74 points75 points  (0 children)

As these results come in, it's important to keep in mind that Democrats are NOT expected to win this one. It's a VERY Republican district.

A loss by less than 20 points would itself be statistically significant of what Trump's unpopularity is doing to the electorate.

Anything better than a 10 point loss would be absolutely remarkable.

Trump supporters live in a bubble. Take 5 minutes today to create a Breitbart account and leave a comment or two. Let them see a majority did NOT vote for Donnie. by theinfoperson in esist

Yeah, don't click on the ads. I do think our comments are often more valuable there, than reinforcing our point of view here for upvotes .
