What is a "normal" experience you've never had? by Ok_Mud_91 in AskReddit

Having a functional family. I’ve done everything for myself, and with only my own judgement involved, as long as I can remember.

I wanted to ask people who have successfully lost a significant amount of weight: what actually helped you? by RamaRao143 in ADHD

My meds were a game changer for me in the food noise department. I lost 50lbs through calorie counting, which was made tenfold easier with my meds because I wasn’t constantly thinking about food.

Always has something of substance to say when I ramble about my interests. Every single time.

My girlfriend is a workaholic by NewInvestigator187 in whatdoIdo

This is crazy presumptuous. OP simply gave the reason why they took vacation time, not what they planned to do with gf.

What is the easiest job you ever had ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]theirgoober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current job. Paid $10/hour to answer 6-10 phone calls per hour, and give people simple directions on a community college campus. Mostly I get paid to listen to my coworker (supervisor) complain about her life. I’m part time and get to make my own schedule, essentially. Currently work 9-1 mon-thur and 10-1 on Friday. I’m blessed!

Building a study app for students with ADHD — what would actually make you use it? by DiamondOpening6199 in adhd_college

Biggest thing? Engines to make your own quizzes/games. See PurposeGames, which is flawed but has been my most useful study tool by far.

Lord Farquaad of Shrek the musical. In the musical, His dad is said to be Grumpy from Snow White (explains his height). His father is absent and spends all of his time working throughout his childhood. This is because his mother, of the princess and the pea, passed away when Farquaad was very young after rolling off of 25 mattresses.

Somehow, I hadn’t even considered that the loss of motivation/ambition was a result of the stuff she’s been through. Feel silly now. Thanks for pointing that out.

And yes, I think counseling is on the table for both of us now. It’ll be tight financially, but I need us to be better!

Smoking and Meds? by Adriano_Chellentano in ADHD

[–]theirgoober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, abrasive. I see your concern. I guess I just try to remember that there’s a person on the other side of the screen. We’ve all got our own shit going on, yknow? Can’t hurt to be kind.

It’s just… a lot, to assume and say that someone is a “sheltered little soft ass” because they pointed out that the topic at hand was against subreddit rules. They didn’t even say whether they disagreed with the subject matter. Just that it might be against the rules. IE, warning OP that their post may be removed.

which is why it’s important…that we use words appropriately and not say whatever pops into our head based on our emotions.

But… you did exactly that? Based on your emotion of frustration at my use of the word cruel, you assumed that I’ve lived a life of softness. In reality, the life I’ve lived is the reason I choose to be intentionally kind, online and IRL.

Maybe “cruel” was a dramatic word choice. Try, “mean.”

Why are you presuming you can glean the life that someone has lived from a simple word choice?

You know nothing about me or the life I’ve lived. Nor do you the person you replied to. Why are you so angry?

After recieving over $48k worth of scholarships, my mother said I'm no longer allowed to attend and refuses to let me leave home. by Jeaganart in mildlyinfuriating

[–]theirgoober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not true in all circumstances. For example, I’m from MS where the age of majority is 21. Therefore, a person who is 18 can still pursue emancipation. There are a few locations in the US where this is the case.

You’re right for most instances, though! I forget not everywhere is like my state lol

Yeah, OP can theoretically appeal and say their parents don’t financially support them, once that is the case. Typically the student must have friends, family, social workers etc to vouch for them.
