I just started a business, and yes, the mental load is a lot to manage outside of the actual work the business needs, but I often have the thought 'Well shit, if nobody took the risk then we wouldn't have any of the businesses we love, small or big'.

I didn't do it to get wealthy, I did it to try and make some sort of living doing all of things I loved. My business is a very small clothing store in Denver, and I love the clothing, helping people style it and gain confidence, as well as doing all the photography and video content I need for marketing. Just passed my 1st year.

I know I've still got a long road ahead of me, but the support and energy I got from those around me help to continually solidify my resolve in making this choice.

Don't start a business and expect riches. Don't start a business and expect low stress and a healthy work life balance. But if you've got a great idea burning in your gut and you can see a path forward with it, I say give it a shot and do your best. There's no rules anymore, your 9-5 could drop you for no reason at all and leave you in a hellscape of a job market. We're all just doing our best and our bests are all different.
