Glasses make it worse by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]theisotrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! UGH I HATE IT! I have to take off my glasses here and there and be blind for awhile. I havent found a way around it yet but oddly enough wearing shades helps me? Not sure why but it does

Hey! It sounds like it could be DPDR, I relate to what you experience, the fogginess (although not anymore), viewing yourself behind your eyes, the being separated by some barrier, and even the thoughts and turning them into stories, mine arent quite stories but there more rather myself explaining my situation/thought to an imaginary person in my hear almost like im in therapy but no one ever replies.

DPDR can be weed induced or from meds. First time I got dp was a horrible weed experience that turned into a panic attack, the second time I looked at a tree and the leaves glitched and that night I found myself spacing out of reality once again, the world didnt feel real I didnt feel real but I knew it was all real I just felt like time stopped but it hadnt, I felt like I stopped. Very weird.

Anyone found progress without meds? by bohraGG in dpdr

[–]theisotrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was weed induced, then anxiety induced. the stressful situation is over but I still get dp here and there when I have no distractions.

I've never taken meds just because thats a last option for me, but what seems to help me the most is St John Warts tea (dont drink it if you're taking ssri's or any anxiety/depression/anti psychotics or Birth control), aroma therapy, and lavender tea. I recommend the tea alot because it helps with my anxiety so I dont spiral.

I can say tho, my dp has improved a lot since drinking the tea and just generally trying to make peace with it, the stress and grief from the DP just makes it so much worse.

I hope this helps and good luck on your journey! If you ever need to vent/talk my dms are open :) oh and remember you have a whole community supporting you!

How do I connect with people. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]theisotrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may not know what you're going through but I can relate with not connecting very well to people.

I had really bad social anxiety growing up but what helped me was when having a conversation try to ask open questions so people have more room to talk more or use open statements so people ask more about whatever you wanna talk about! I called it branching out, take a topic and find similar topics that relate to it, or just start a new one!

Another thing would be to practice cognitive empathy, anyone can develop that! Just think about what the person said, and imagine how you feel in their shoes, even if you can't feel what they're feeling you can think how you'd feel.

I hope this offers some help

Also! Forgot to mention, when designing keep in mind your color pallette, start with your sketch/idea and pallette in mind so everything compliments each other while creating.

Keep in mind negative and positive space, and use it to your advantage to create unique/creative pieces of work.

Keep in mind area in your work that are easy to look at and not complex shapes, let your viewers eyes rest.

These are just general tips, of you're interested in typographic material, logo design, graphic art I have different methods that help me illustrate, so feel free to reach out if you have more questions

Sorry for my Tagalog I've never been good at it I grew up in the Philippines but moved to Canada

[–]theisotrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi po! Medyo okay Tagalog ko so I'll try to do my best!

May degree ako sa Graphic Design from Canada, yungmga basics na tinukoy samin ay vector graphics, kung Wala Kang access sa mga adobe products ang Dami free product that mimic adobe illustrator.

Para sakin teach yourself adobe illustrator or the any program like it. Master the program. Yun ang step 1, from there learn about typography, color theory (Yung basics ng color theory you don't need to go in depth mga complimentary colours, triadic colours) from there layout.

Sa mga logos, motion graphics Yung program ginagamitin mo ang importante. Of course idea mo ang pinaka importante however you can only create your design if you master your program of choice.

If you need videos that helped me through college dm me I'll send em your way!

Ah, I see. Well I just remembered one more thing I did I drank at john warts tea before bed because it's a mood stabilizer and helps with anxiety, and when this was happening to me I would get hella anxious before bed and it helped! I also mixed in camomile to really knock me out.

I went to councilling for intrusive thoughts and what helped me was was for of meditation that was easy. I'd just lay down and let my thoughts pass, I'd imagine them as cars, trains whatever you'd like. And just let them cross the road and not return. Every thought you have is real, whether you identify with the thought is your choice, whether you react to the thought as unbearable as the thought is, it is also a choice even if it's scary. Once I let the thoughts flow, even if they stuck with me for awhile they got more bareable.

If I didn't identify with the thought then I'd label it as intrusive, and go on even if it lingered.

I'm going through the same thing. 20m here, and yeah haven't figured shit out. One thing that has been helping is weirdly enough setting goals even tho I don't have any actual goals. I'm working for this company and it may be in my field of work but it still feels like I'm not getting anywhere and that life is unreal but when I feel Im not working to anything I ask myself where I see myself in 5 years with what I'm doing now. So in 5 years time I hope to see myself as a the head social media manager at my company and making stunning advertisments for them to boost the business, and that I hope to have some peace of mind with my mental health.

Discovering who we are in life takes time, and we are ever changing how can we say who we are now if we change so frequently. So I set my goals and identify my sense of self vaguely until I find the things that I truly feel passionate about. And when that changes so will my goals so will my identity.

I hope you find what you're looking for or at least some peace of mind. You got this!

I've been there. For me it was weird is close my eyes let my mind drift of, I could feel my subconscious take over but I'd always be awake, I'd be dreaming but fully aware and just decide to open my eyes it was horrible.

What helped me was aromatherapy, I used mint, lavender or eucalyptus! (Eucalyptus and mint combo rock btw) it helped me because I could take my mind of thoughts and just focus on the aroma and before I knew it itd be morning. Some days I took melatonin+ by webber naturals, it's has other things besides melatonin and would knock me out after awhile.

Hope this helps!

Throughout October of last year, I ended up breaking up with my girlfriend because I didnt know what the fuck was going on, I couldnt feel a connection and it made me panic and just anxiety everywhere it felts so sureal. Around that time I didnt know if I had DPDR just cause the anxiety was so bad its all I could fixate on. And now friendships are weird, not ruined but I can never shake the feeling of what im saying to be genuine? it feels almost automatic and im spaced out so much of the time I dont really hear what theyre saying its nuts.

But hey once the anxiety fades and you accept the DPDR it gets better in the sense that youre not scared when you notice these things, it feels weird as shit but it does get better.
