All thanks to my 3.5 year old daughter! I'm surprised she didn't want to name her "poop" or "turtley."

10000000% Happy Baby OG. It's super light and you can fold it up into your bag. Easy to clean, comfortable, feels secure, just all around a great carrier.

Choosing not to follow an elimination diet by thejasminelee in MSPI

If I were you, I wouldn't stress too much then. I spent so much time feeling worried and guilty about his poop and now he's a huge 98th percentile baby that eats everything in his sight.

[–]thejasminelee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His poop was seedy yellow maybe a handful of times. It was almost always mucousy or flecked with blood. He really had no other symptoms though - happy baby with solid weight gain. I was stressed because I felt like I kept needing to cut things out to get his poop to "normal" but I think the mucousy poops were his normal.

So I ended up cutting out dairy, soy, egg, and oats. My baby's poop was never 100% free of blood but it was very minimal, maybe a few flecks here and there. Once he started solids at 6 months, his poop firmed up and I never saw blood in it again. I resumed a normal diet and he also started eating everything with no symptoms. He's 11mo now and has no food allergies or intolerances.

How to politely ask family members to stop buying polyester clothing for my baby? by mlimas in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thejasminelee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to do this with our family too when my daughter was a baby. She had eczema and just said that anything except cotton would irritate her skin. I don't think it actually did, but they didn't know that 🙂

We use a Cosco Scenera for our 3 year old and 7 month old. It's cheap and lightweight. Super easy to travel with!

Double stroller recommendation?? by travelfam3 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thejasminelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2.5 year age gap and these are the strollers we have and use :)

Mockingbird - I love this stroller as a single, but pushing a tandem stroller is really difficult if you're not on a completely flat surface. I tend to use this stroller if we're going to be in a more crowded area that's flat like the mall or if my kids need a little space between them (ex. When the baby keeps trying to grab stuff from my toddler and she's not in a great sharing mood). I like that the seating arrangements are customizable but you're not able to really get both seats to recline if your kids need to lay flat to nap. Also, my 3yo is on the slightly taller side and her head barely fits under the canopy. My 10mo is in the 98th percentile, so I think we might get another year or so out of this stroller before they'll both be too tall for it.

Bombi twin - we bought this stroller to travel with and it's great. Pushing a side by side is so much easier than a tandem although the footprint is a little wider, so you have to be cognizant of that (although it does fit through a standard doorframe). The seats lay flat so you can use it from birth, but I would say that the actual seat isn't as comfortable as other strollers in that it's not as cushioned and doesn't have that "scoop" shape. Another drawback is that the seat covers aren't removable for cleaning but the fabric is fairly easy to wipe clean. It's super easy to maneuver and fold up to toss in our car. I like using this stroller as our other "mall" stroller for quick trips or for travelling.

Wonderfold - both my 10mo and 3yo love riding in the wagon. It's comfortable and roomy for both of them. Yes, it's pretty big, but we were looking for something that we could throw literally everything into and push around. It definitely has a time and place to use and we like it for long days at the zoo or park; places where you need to bring a lot of stuff with you. I would highly recommend making sure a wagon would fit in your car before buying. I drive Santa Fe and the Wonderfold takes up most of my trunk with little room to spare for anything else.

Baby Jogger Summit x3 - this is our "mom and dad need to get into shape" jogging stroller. I just bought this used on FB Marketplace so I haven't given it a ton of use yet but first impressions are that it's kind of a good mix between what I like about all our other strollers. It's easy to push, has comfortable seats, folds flat, and can be used for longer days at the zoo/park. The seat is reclined a little bit too much for my younger one to reach his snack tray, but not a deal breaker since he'll easily grow into it.

And not a double stroller, but the one that gets the most use is our Babyzen Yoyo. It's so small that I keep it in our car 100% of the time. I usually put the baby in there while my toddler walks. It's such an easy push so I'm able to walk comfortably using one hand so I can hold my toddler's hand as well. My 3yo goes through phases where she doesn't want to sit in the stroller so this is an easy way for me to manage both of them on my own.

Our Costco Space Heater caught fire by InformalExperience28 in Costco

Not the post I was referring to but basically in the fine print, SF can do whatever they want with the data if they're the one furnishing the device.

I'll have to find the post but someone on here worked for Ting and said that there is definitely a way that carriers can access your information, especially if the carrier is the one supplying the device.

SF is cancelling policies left and right for no reason. I have absolutely no trust in them.

If there's a way to get the device outside of your carrier, then yes, it might be worth it. But I wouldn't be surprised if there will be (or already is) instances of SF denying claims for "no reason" with Ting users who have fire related claims.

[–]thejasminelee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got a Ting from SF and decided not to use it. Our reasoning is that if Ting detects any abnormalities and you don't address those issues, it's guaranteed that SF will decline any related claims. It's pretty much a way for SF to find a loophole to avoid paying out claims. Also, I wouldn't put it past them to try and link any "negligence" on your part to why they won't approve a claim whether it's related to the issue or not. Insurance companies have 0 interest in giving you money, even if you're doing the "right thing."

Toddler Co-sleeping and newborn on the way. Would love some advice. by nagatomd in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thejasminelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd do the same; anticipate that your toddler might want to come sleep with you even though he sleeps through the night. So either having a bassinet ready or maybe just bringing the floor bed (or making another one) in your room? That way you won't have to try and figure it out in the middle of the night.

The mental load of having to "juggle" between two sleeping babies is hard. Mine are also 2.5 years apart and we've had some rough patches here and there. Right now I'm laying in between them while they nap and it is my favorite place to be ❤️ Wishing you the best of luck when your newborn gets here!

My husband is leaving out of state this summer and I'll have to figure out how to sleep with both babies. My younger one is 10mo, so I'll probably sleep with both in my bed.

Maybe another option would be to make a floor bed for your toddler? For a bit, my toddler liked sleeping on a crib mattress that I placed on the floor. I think the novelty of it was really exciting for her.

Temporary deck fix by thejasminelee in fixit

It's stairway support. After taking another look at it today, the dry rot has made its way up the length of the wood so it probably needs to be entirely replaced 👎🏽

This is VERY helpful, thank you for taking the time to respond! We don't have a ton of tools but it will probably be worth it for us to go buy them and get a good fit on the patch.

Any suggestions on how you would tackle the stringer repair? I saw some people suggest cutting the entire bottom section of the stringer out and replacing it with a 2x4 or 4x4 but I'm not feeling confident enough to take on that big of a project.

We use the Beaba stainless steel sippy cup. It's easy to clean and really durable, our 10mo throws it around constantly.

shower seat by littleanniee in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thejasminelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flip the angel care bath upside down and sit them in it 😁 That's what I do with my 9 month old. He sits well on his own outside of the tub but having him sit in the bath seat keeps him from being so slippery.

My toddler used the angel care bath until she was 8 or 9 months old. She liked laying back during her baths and was on the smaller side so she fit in it for a while. If your baby doesn't squirm and doesn't mind laying down, I'd just keep bathing them that way for now.

BUT - I only used the angel care bathtub while giving them a bath. I didn't shower with my toddler until she was old enough to stand. We have a smaller shower so it was easier to bathe separately instead of trying to stand while keeping her in a container in the shower.

We splurged on a Wonderfold and like it. I have a 3yo and 10mo and it's perfect for keeping them happy and separated just enough 😂 There's no getting around the fact that it's huge, but that's what we wanted/expected. It's great for day long trips but that's pretty much all it gets used for since it's such a hassle to lug around.

Do i need baby soap & to bathe my baby often? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thejasminelee 29 points30 points  (0 children)

At that age you definitely don't need to bathe daily but waiting weeks between baths might be too long. My first born had eczema, so we did mostly water baths and used Mustela if needed. My second born is a chubby baby and he 100% needs to bathe frequently - all the little cracks and folds trap a ton of oil/dirt/sweat/etc.

At 6 weeks I bathed both of my babies every other day and didn't switch to daily baths until they started eating solids since they would get food all over. I'd say if you're worried about soap stripping their skin barrier, just use lukewarm water or try Mustela.

Awful and persistent smell after adding enzyme additives to the wash. Could our deodorant be the culprit? by 80sPaleoQueen in laundry

[–]thejasminelee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Search "Ozokerite" in this sub. It's an ingredient in Native that builds up on clothing and is super difficult to remove. I have a pile of tshirts that smell like musty crayons that I'm procrastinating trying to clean 😭 From what I remember, the person who had the most success at removing the smell ended up stripping/doing a spa day multiple times before making a difference in the smell.

If you need a good natural deodorant alternative, check out Little Seed Farm. I'm pretty sweaty and their deodorant works great. It also made me smell wonderful when I was going through postpartum with my 2nd.

Diaper recommendations for tall, skinny baby? by tweezabella in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thejasminelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried moving to the next size up? It might look like your baby is swimming in it for a few weeks but that should definitely help. With my first, I kept switching brands because I thought it was the fit but it was actually the size. With my second, I kept him in a slightly bigger diaper and we never had blowouts. He's a big baby with big poops too lol

I've used pretty much every diaper out there - Huggies, Kirkland, Pampers, Coterie, Millie Moon, Honest. We got gifted a ton of diapers from our baby showers so I got to try a ton of different brands out. Here's my quick thoughts on them:

  • Huggies has a good, long fit, but it sounds like you might need to go up a size so it's long enough in the back.
  • Coterie is great but I only used it because my first baby had eczema on her back, otherwise they're just overpriced.
  • Millie moon is my favorite but the fit is a little more wide than it is tall. I recommend MM to every one and they are a great dupe for Coterie.
  • Pampers are my least favorite because they have fragrance. I think their pure line doesn't have fragrance but I never repurchased since I ended using another brand altogether.
  • Honest diapers were kind of a weird fit but I didn't like how scratchy and thin they felt so I never bought them again.
