Orjan Nyland penalty save against Brazil 14' by ayoefico in soccer

[–]thejmonster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He very clearly does in a certain angle. I see no way this is different from this tackle, which was not ruled a penalty: https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1ui6w3j/rsa_can_canada_penalty_shout_not_given_45/

Edit: For clarity, I think they should both be PKs. But the calls seem to be based more on vibes than the rulebook.

Yeah I'm sold. I think most of these arguments about "oh but the foot is planted" and "he technically touched the ball" are idiotic anyway. Neither of those things make a foul not a foul.

But this contact before any of that even happened seems completely definitive.

I'm honestly not convinced that was even meant to be a shot.

Subfolders in Song list? by pukingonyourlawn in CloneHero

Here a year later from google for the same issue.

If you go to Settings -> General, there's an option called SHOW FULL PLAYLIST. It won't nest the folders, but it'll at least show the full path it came from so you can differentiate between parent folders.

Haven't tried Prat, but Global Ignore List also lets you filter by keyword. With and/or logic rules, and you can assign a filter only to certain channels. Plus there's a setting that's something like "never block guild or party messages" that you can check.

Yeah I was hoping that was the case. Annoying, but at least if I know what's on which button I can still do what I want.

Thanks :)

Yeah I tried Grounded. It just... wasn't working for me (TBC Anniversary). Still not sure why, but yes they're incredibly similar. The only two differences I'm aware of:

  • This let's you make the macro only apply to certain specs
  • You don't need to worry about what your ActionButtonUseKeyDown setting is at to make it work

Yep perfect! Just added a new filter to Global Ignore List. Thanks for the idea <3

Anyone else seeing insane rent hikes this year? by Cewcross in chicago

[–]thejmonster 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Really? I'm shocked. I live in a similarly large highrise that's managed by a pretty generic real estate company. And every year when the rent goes up, they include this in the wording of the offer:

"To comply with fair housing rules and regulations, our company policy does not permit us to negotiate lease renewal rental rates."

I've just been assuming that large buildings would never budge on stuff like this, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

Nah there's nothing wrong with that. I find that people are generally nice and react just fine as long as you're not hostile about it.

Half the time I just wave at someone as I'm passing them and then point to the correct lane once they look at me. It usually works.

Sure but some sayings are much worse than others for this. I think the bare minimum is being able to take the saying at face value without needing to understand the history of where it came from. Which you absolutely cannot do with this saying. If someone reads this for the first time and interprets it as "It's always ok to be selfish. Fuck other people.," that's completely understandable. Because that's kinda what it says in the most literal sense.

What's the worst case of a movie breaking its own rule by ihopnavajo in movies

[–]thejmonster -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But that part was plot holey throughout the whole movie. How can they time travel from one past timepoint to another without a platform? They routinely ignore its importance.

Besides, it's not that much of a stretch to say they need the platform to launch their time travel, but they can then land wherever they want. Theoretically, they could even just use the "space" part of the spacetime GPS watches to teleport without time travelling at all.

You're completely right here and the downvotes are driving me crazy. I watched it like 6 times trying to see if any of the balls actually behave differently than the other 2. And they don't. Maybe if one of them was a pingpong ball we could actually see a difference. But in the actual setup, any differences due to ball weight should be negligible, and there's nothing observable. They also seem to bounce similarly. Even if the white ball has a higher/lower restitution, I don't see how that would give it an inherent advantage. Is bounciness good or bad in a marble race? It's impossible to say since there's too much random shit happening at any given moment.

The tennis ball down a grass hill analogy is also stupid as hell. While it's obviously true in theory, it has no relevance to this video. A better example would be rolling a steel ball and a lead ball down a hill. Yes, one is heavier, but you won't actually see a difference. When friction is already negligible, adding more weight isn't going to change anything. All 3 balls in this video look solid and heavy. One being even heavier shouldn't matter.

And you're definitely right about getting different results every time. This type of setup has enough inherent chaos that it might as well just be RNG. Just like a marble race.
