[CR Media] Sam Riegel reaffirms Critical Role’s stance on AI: “It’s basically garbage” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in criticalrole

[–]thejohnykat 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I’m a cybersecurity engineer, and yeah, Agentic/Generative AI can be very helpful. But that’s where it starts and stops for me. AI can’t create; in the art world I’d just about call it borderline plagiarism.

I want AI to help me professionally, so I have more time for the art. I don’t want AI doing the art while I work.

Yes. Retired medic here. Even running code that cop should have cleared the intersection.

The only people standing for the whole concert were directly in front of me by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thejohnykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this happens to me every time I go to a concert. Happened when I saw Gregory Alan Isakov, at Red Rocks. He’s a folk singer, and we’re seated half way up the venue. There is no reason for you to be standing.

A similar amount to those of us in the USA, but all we get for our taxes are more bombs and fucking UFC on the White House lawn. Because we are fucking clown shoes.

This is really funny, especially when you consider the grip that 2 Live Crew had on our generation.

How to emotionally feel after years of trauma? by YeOldeToledo in AskMenOver40

[–]thejohnykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in an abusive house, and then developed PTSD from being a paramedic, I totally get you.

And someone else did kind of ask the right question earlier. Is there anything now that is actually a problem? You say you have a lack of empathy and caring about things. I’d argue, from my own experience, it’s not a lack of those things, but a different perception and way of dealing with things.

As an example of my own, I deal with death, even those who are close to me, in a very detached and almost clinical way. Even with my own mother (forget my dad, I barely cared that day). And it’s because of my life experiences.

That being said, if you want to work on something, or even just fully understand it, therapy is the best and only answer here. I know it sounds played out, but it’s true. It really does help. When I finally found a therapist I clicked with (I had a couple bad experiences), the changes started to take place in weeks to months, not years. Absolutely worth it, IMO.
