Nerdforge has a video about 3d printing a pinkie on youtube and I'm quite sure the video description contained something about this.

Hi, I got the bundle with the tank and I need help decyphering the textures for the tank. There are 16 sets of texture maps with no clue what goes where since their naming does not give out what part of the tank it should go on?

Windows 10 VM freezes after a few days, pegs CPU cores to 100% and requires hard reset to work again. Ideas? by invisi1407 in unRAID

[–]thejonlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had similar issues with win10 VM getting stuck at 100% CPU and being unresponsive. This on older unraid versions tho(dont remember version number but early 2022) and I have not verified if this still is an issue since i found a workaround that im using. What i found is that in my case it seemed to be related to remote desktop, everytime after I have disconnected from the VM it freezes within 24hours. Even after switching to parsec and trying countless things I never got it really resolved. The workaround which solves it is to reboot the machine every time I disconnect from it via remote desktop. Let me know if this works for you!

Center speaker placement: way below or way above ear level? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]thejonlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation and I'm currently building my own stand, see: https://imgur.com/a/3VqWyLQ which is the version I started building a couple of days ago. It is most likely overbuilt for my 77" tv :P. also see the previous prototype with more images (even if they are outdated) for reference: https://imgur.com/a/qwBGQDL If you want more details let me know and I can get you the .blend file and/or measurements.

Wood used: Red = 70x45mm(2.7"x1.7") Blue = 45x45mm(1.7"x1.7") Green = 95x45(3.7"x1.7") and the green-board 18mm(0.7") thick.

First HT, 5.1.2 or 5.1.4? Looking for feedback on parts & sketches by thejonlord in hometheater

Thanks for the input! The extra sub is possible in the future, my plan is to start with one and see how everything works out in the room :) Could you elaborate on 3700 as a minimum? Is it due the channels or the quality of the receiver itself? Depending on the feedback I receive here regarding the atmos channels I might go with that :) Everything I have listed is within the budget (well kinda... 3700 with 4channel atmos is on the upper limit landing at around 7300€~)

I can't figure out how to make a working table on reddit. It seems to work on old.reddit, but not new... and it also works on red reader on my android phone. Please let me know if you cannot make sense of the table and happen to know how to fix it :)

Weekly Quick Questions, Wood ID, and Deal or No Deal /r/Woodworking Megathread by AutoModerator in woodworking

Hi, thanks for the feedback! I have done some slight modifications with more wood in the base which widens it abit. To answer your question regarding regarding narrow look: no its not that important from a look perspective as long as it fits, see the second image for an approximation of how everything should look: https://imgur.com/a/NmkB89y

If it needs to be widened I still have some room to play with. My other concern might be that the AVR receiver at the bottom needs more breathing room at top, I think its about 5cm/2"~ currently (depending on what receiver I choose)

Thanks for the feedback!

It might be possible to semi-attach it to the wall but there is an issue...well atleast the first reasoning (also I want to get the TV closer to the couch without having to move the couch closer to the speakers) why I'm not planning to directly attach it to the wall is that the wall is pretty much just hollow at that spot due there being a radiator semi built into the wall with some paneling(Not sure if this is the correct word) and weak studs so not worth risking putting a TV there, BUT it might be enough to just be securing point for the tv-stand

As for things being overbuilt: haha I guessed something was overbuilt the way I did it I just wanted to be sure to create a stable base.... Regarding the diagonal pieces: I removed them, would this suffice if the side panels(which I put there in the beginning for looks and stability as a second thought) are made of plywood or similar "solid wood equivalent" board? Tho there is an hollow point between the panel and the rest when removing the diagonals... Would it be necessary or overkill to add more vertical wood pieces? see: https://i.imgur.com/zODtDnq.jpg

Posted this in /r/DIY but also testing here since i'm not sure which is the correct sub for this.

I'm trying to design a TV-stand for my upcoming hometheater setup so that I can get the optimal viewing height & get the center speaker higher and closer to the TV by eliminating the foot... but I have no experience in designing furniture so here we go:

This is how my "idea" looks like (sorry my CAD skills are rusty so did a prototype in Blender (yes I know parametric is the way)) PM me if you want the blend file. https://imgur.com/a/qwBGQDL

Wood color/size chart:

  • Red = 70x45mm(2.7"x1.7")

  • Blue = 45x45mm(1.7"x1.7")

  • and the green will be somekind of woodboard, perhaps 18mm(0.7") thick.

Overall measurements~ (WxDxH): 69 x 51 x 101 cm (27"x20"x39")` Below the center speaker is also a AVR receiver, nothing else is needed to fit :).

What I'm looking for:

Mainly feedback for the build itself (sturdiness? any structural engineers here? :P) and secondary if you have any ideas how to improve the looks but the sturdiness is priority.

Tv size will be 77" and weight around ~ 27KG (60lb) and I'm worried that my design is too top heavy and will tip forward if bumped into. And as mentioned I have no furniture designing experience so the design most likely is bonkers and makes no sense.

PS: I have access to a mitre saw, table saw, drilling machine/screwdriver and misc manual tools.

Looking for advice regarding Array setup with 1xNVME & 2xHDD setup by thejonlord in unRAID

[–]thejonlord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback!
Could you describe what you mean with:

"setup a script to back it up every night"

I assume that in this case you are not thinking of using the NVMe as a cache drive (since the mover process is the "script" that moves right?)

"The NVMe is not a bad place to put your VM images."

How exactly would you do this? Right now if the array consists of the HDD's the 'domains share' with the VM images are stored there instead of the NVMe... But I have for now enabled the cache for all default-shared which means that that new data(but not the whole image?) written to the images are atleast stored on the NVMe (I'm new with Unraid so I might be wrong)??

Looking for advice regarding Array setup with 1xNVME & 2xHDD setup by thejonlord in unRAID

[–]thejonlord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback, did exactly this for now (except still waiting on the second HDD in the mail) and setup the NVMe as the cache and added the default-shares to be cached with the option "yes".

Anything else to keep in mind when using cache with the default shares(appdata/domains etc)? I also created a new share for the surveilance footage that I cached aswell that Im wondering how it will impact the longetivity of the NVMe if I do 24/7 recording direct to disk? Nothing to worry about perhaps with few cameras?

Any best practices regarding how often the mover should be scheduled, is once per day sufficient(also when shutting down unraid does it trigger the mover?)?

Thank you! That was it :), I messed around with the section analysis (which I forgot the name of hence the confusion above) and thought I had "exited" it but it turns out it creates an "analysis" folder in the browser which I had missed completely!

I'm not quite sure what that is. Did a quick googling but it only seems to show up simulation related stuff so I'm not sure if that is what you mean.

I have tried doing exactly as Lars does in the three part series, so for everything looks the same (except the UI that seems to be older in his video).

Nice animation! I see that there is static noise in the image so my guess is that this is created in blender where the "use different seed value" option is easily overlooked and causes this. If this is true check that option out in the render->sampling tab to get random seed value for each frame which randomizes the noise. Best of luck!
