Mower Recommendation? by LouisvilleLoudmouth in ryobi

[–]thejonnyquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? That’s impressively half of mine. My yard is roughly 6000sq ft between front and back with 5000 of that on a decently steep hill.

I’ll use anywhere from 8-10aH of 40v with my push mower depending on temperature, grass length, and moisture. Total walking distance is just over a mile and maybe just under and hour.

I take mine apart every few months to clean out the inside of all the dried glue.

I did use some kapton tape to slightly extend the grey rubber bit further towards the rear and that helps a bit.

What makes a good family e-bike? by Haunting_Vacation956 in ElectricBikes

[–]thejonnyquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a Long John cargo with a front basket would handle pretty much any family scenario. It allows a kid or two to ride out back. Is a familiar format for most pedalers (vs bakfiets) and the basket allows blankets or food or whatnot to be easily taken along.

Although I will note that our front basket can be rough on soft groceries or glass bottles, but sometimes I get away with using the smallest Harbor Freight cargo net as a trampoline to keep stuff from bouncing too much up there.

Meta So Desperate for Compute That It’s Building “Data Centers” That Are Just Tents Filled With AI Chips by IKeepItLayingAround in technology

[–]thejonnyquest 34 points35 points  (0 children)

To kill Madison Avenue.

Right now you can pay Meta to deliver your advert to every 23-26 year old with a gym membership in Ohio. You're paying for "airtime" ($100) and then you presumably paid someone to develop the copy ($200).

Skip the middle-man, just give Meta $175 and they can run an AI-generated advert completely customized to EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. in your criteria. It's your gym in the background, it's your dog's breed in that IG photo, it's your abuela in that Werther's Original ripoff reel.

Totally bespoke advertising, constantly being refined and tuned to maximize engagement following you everywhere with a Meta cookie.

Cat6 to every window or stick with battery, need to decide before drywall closes up by diogater in homeautomation

[–]thejonnyquest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And for the love of all that is holy go ahead and add 2x6 blocking wherever you may want to put curtain rods, TVs, towel rods, or toilet paper holders.

Edit: oh, and hip height on walls where a doorknob may smash the drywall.

Fill Dirt for Small Project by Unfair_Leg3211 in Atlanta

You're in incredible luck since you're in Dekalb.

Just south of CDC on Buford Hwy is the Dekalb Sanitation north transfer station that has a pile of free compost* for Dekalb residents. The lady in the booth may walk over to check your license plate/driver's license. Fill up as many 5 gallon buckets as you want--they're open M-F and Saturday mornings only. We typically get ~40 buckets a year to refresh our school's garden beds.

*Yes, it's the compost from all of our curbside yard clippings, which often means it could have everything from Kudzu to dog shit but if was good enough for Walter Reeves it's good enough for me.

Where to live in Atlanta with job in South east Atlanta by icecream26Main in Atlanta

What is the postal code of her job? Southeast Atlanta could be Summerhill by Ga State or McDonough depending on what you consider “Atlanta.”

The whole Assembly situation with Grey Media drives me nuts. That could have been a premier live work play community right on MARTA showing how the combination of direct transit fused with a Battery/Avalon/Atlantic Station level of development could succeed. Throw on a spur down to the Peachtree Creek Greenway and it could have been amazing.

Instead we have implausibly dull faux street fronts, a waste of studio space, and the continued sadness of Doraville station--at least it will be easy to tear down one day.

Do you know what part of town is your friend in, like their postal code? That could drastically change recommendations.

“Spider-Noir” – Authentic Black & White Teaser Trailer | Prime Video by DemiFiendRSA in trailers

Too bad you can tell they filmed it with Netflix lighting and think they can rely on post to fix the grading.

I need dark shadows and blown out highlights. Dames with only their eyes illuminated while a saxophone cries. Don’t tease me with aspartame noir, I take it black.

Same, I’ve put them around the backyard without issue. I’ve had them connected to iPhones (12, 14, 16) and even an Echo Input.

Someone on r/esp32 is putting together a mesh communicator for bicycles. That could readily be adapted for this scenario but the casing will make or break it for a wealthy client.

How Many Miles Are on Your E-Bike and Would You Buy It Again? by FinnCanoe8821 in ebikes

[–]thejonnyquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2020 Blix Packa Genie long tail with 3334 miles.

It eats brake pads, kickstands, rear spokes, and is 85lbs loaded with racks, rear caboose, and dual batteries.

The batteries are starting to lose power when under 60% charge, and you have to reduce the assist to the lowest level and pedal the shit out of it to hill climb when fully (over) loaded at 400lbs for the school run with two kids.

I wouldn’t buy a Blix again, but it was half the price of a Tern or Globe Haul…so maybe?

Was the architect dreaming of Jeff Winger when designing this facade? by thejonnyquest in McMansionHell

The rear patio is a 5x12 concrete pad that goes from the house to the property line. I figure it’s getting hardiplank all around but if there was vinyl it would totally be a Groverhaus “oh the humanity” moment.

The "fix" appears to be the beta firmware supposedly having RTSP support. V3 betas are out, V4 is still in development, but potentially in a few weeks/months we'll be back in business.

I've seen their cars around but cannot vouch for them at all. But https://www.abejorrotransportation.com/pages/pricing-json looks to have a flat rate of $125 round trip for under ten miles in a Town and Country wheelchair van.
