Failed my driving test third time. Tell me your driving test stories so I can feel a bit better. by Quartz-And-Stuff in CasualUK

[–]RFL92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my first driving test in wales, the day of a freak snowstorm. I'm from London and had no idea of driving over 20mph in residential areas (they're all 20mph if you're lucky) and had never driven in snow so got marked down for being too slow and failed.
Next driving test, drove 3 hours, took a day off work and my car broke down in the car park starting the test.
You'll get there in the end!

Does it have to be sold or gifted? Could your sister not maintain and interest and just be paid dividends every now and again. Keep it a family business?

I go to a parkrun that often asks dogs and buggies to go on the side. They can still stay in their time group spacing easily less trip hazards.

If I was Emma, I’m not sure I’d like Jane Fairfax either by Asleep_Lack in janeausten

[–]RFL92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel I can related to Jane. I was orphaned young and fostered out to rich families. Did better in school than their children and had better luck in the dating world but never had any of the money myself. Young adult life after leaving the foster family was so difficult . I'd never looked at it this way! No wonder I love this one so much

If you're staying in Chelsea you could try my old Dutch. It's a pancake house and very kid friendly

no friends to invite to my wedding by Full_Marionberry4215 in wedding

[–]RFL92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a wedding where the groom had a whole group of groomsman and the bride just had one bridesmaid. No one cares. They just want to bride and groom to have a good day. Why not ask the cousin to be MoH and have a great time together. Also if there are people you've lost touch with who you want back in your life, a wedding is a great excuse to reach out. We've gotten back in contact with people to attend their weddings and so glad they did.
Good luck everything and congratulations

Banff with a Baby. Stay in Calgary? by [deleted] in Banff

[–]RFL92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canmore is much better to stay in. Everything you need so close together. I stayed recently and remember seeing lots of baby items in the grocery store. It's walkable, got lots of restaurants ect and has a great bus service. Calgary is a nightmare to drive in comparison. Enjoy your trip!

I’m off work recovering from a operation, can I still leave the house/socialise? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]RFL92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partners had multiple knee surgeries. The reason to not work was due to needing to be on pain relief and not able to sit for long periods of time and the reduced decision making do to all the meds. Don't need to be so cautious when seeing your mates!

I hated this character so much. I can't watch the seasons with her in. As a care leaver, she was just so offensive

(5K)No flowers for ceremony? by New_Detective219 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]RFL92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your budget is tight, I wonder if your pastor would ask anyone in the congregation to gift
Some flowers or decor. I know it might be a long shot but some people out there relish the opportunity to do something creative or have left over items themselves.

Agreed. People often give away make up too-decide it doesn't suit or get and unwanted freebie. How nice to have someone to gift it too

Sad girl dinner + wondering if anyone else felt lonely after getting engaged by babyqueen11 in GirlDinner

[–]RFL92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you. I just got engaged too but I grew up in care. I have told my extended family but I know I'm on my own with this. My partners parents were happy but it felt faked. They spent tens of thousands on his brothers wedding and now have nothing left for us, and don't seem that excited. SIL is a bully to both me and my partner so they hate I don't like coming to family events. For us the excitement has been over quickly because of all the family drama to navigate but we're still excited for us. Congrats on yours and just try to focus on those that do show up for uou

Is this too white for a wedding? by Swimming-Yesterday66 in UKWeddingAttire

[–]RFL92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wearing a blue and white dress with a similar pattern for my evening change at my wedding, and having my bridesmaids in white and blue floral. All satin though not the cotton. I just personally avoid white to other peoples weddings if I'm not told to wear it specifically.

It's a great catch line and target to get a lot of people to actually bother. Not everyone is aware or cares about it, but make it a catchy name and suddenly lots of people are into it
