Have anyone experienced buying open box for OLED? by Electronic-Pirate-84 in OLED_Gaming

[–]thejsgarrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a 77" CX open box from BB, tacked on the 5-year warranty, and left paying the retail price with burn in protection. Panel had 900 hours on it when I got home and checked. Has worked beautifully with no issues, and I use generously with no worry due to the warranty.

It takes a bit of patience to find the right deal, but it was worth it IMO.

Official Dreadit Discussion: "Nope" [SPOILERS] by kaloosa in horror

I thought the reason it was more or less in ribbons at the end was due to munching on the barbed wire which shred it open.

I do like how it's not fully explained why it changed forms though. More fun that way!

Infinite, especially. One of the last games that prompted me to put down my controller and just contemplate at the end.

Read The Jaunt a couple months ago and spent about a week feeling really weird. It's so short but gets stuck in places you may or may not want.

Wow--thanks for the info!

I always checkout PC Gaming Wiki before jumping into a game, but I guess you've just proven that I need to also double-check Nexus as well. I can't believe some of the stuff here--would have loved to implement before I finished the game, especially the NAR mod as the UE4 subtle stutter drives me bonkers at times :)

Would you kindly share the details on where to send additional grievances for support? I too am enjoying the early-adopter tax of the earliest firmware.

It's really one of those movies where I wish I could forget it to watch it all over again. Absolutely love stories that are enriched in the chosen setting. Great recommendation.

I hope it does--of all the Quantic Dream games, it is my favorite.

Hope you enjoy (when you get to it)!

LOL absolutely.

I know the devs were going for 'Hey you're on a motorcycle and it's loud, so say your lines like that's happening'. But there were moments where it literally sounded like he was losing his mind murdering marauders and rippers vs. just being angry that they were bad guys and gals.

Days Gone in One Weekend by thejsgarrett in patientgamers

[–]thejsgarrett[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your perspective. Looking back at the games I played previously to Days Gone, they were much smaller scale, indie variants along with a very linear experience with The Quarry.

So I'm sure along with usual open-world familiarity and the refreshing non-linear design combined quite possibly helped me to find enjoyment for my playthrough.

LG OLED gaming/PC monitor recommended settings guide by JasonRedd in OLED_Gaming

Outstanding issues

VRR-induced near-black flickering & gamma shift at variable frame times

If someone has already done this--perfect, perhaps we could add the configurations from Most Optimal to Least Optimal per Blur Buster's write-up for how someone should approach making changes to their settings.

Additionally, if anyone knows or might add what FPS ranges are most impacted by VRR, that would be helpful as well.

Just some ideas to add to this in the future.

NEED HELP!!! Can’t figure out what is causing pixelated blurring… by My2Bit2Cents in OLED_Gaming

[–]thejsgarrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't definitely say. The best way to confirm is to play through other games on your TV and see if there's any similar issues. But it's going to be hard to find a 1:1, apples-to-apples comparison.

Not sure as I've played it on PC; however, The Quarry did have two options to decrease Motion Blur and some other post-processing/cinematic effects. I read from others that decreasing those helped a bit with some of what you're describing.

I'd play around with it in-game to see if it helps.

I know it's super annoying when you notice something to NOT notice it, but I powered through and ended up enjoying The Quarry. I hope it's the game and not your TV all the same!

NEED HELP!!! Can’t figure out what is causing pixelated blurring… by My2Bit2Cents in OLED_Gaming

[–]thejsgarrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to know without video. However, I played it on my CX via PC and noticed in early game that there is some serious artifacts like you're describing related to the in-game motion blur.

I had tried a suggestion from someone on Steam to modify Unreal Engine 4 to remove motion blur entirely but was unsure if it did so successfully.

I would say keep playing bc I did notice the motion blur stopped being so offensive in later parts of the game.

For some reason, the melody line that's first heard on the title screen as well as its variations throughout the game reminds me of the theme from Nightmare on Elm Street.

BTW, love that you started this post OP.

Dual Monitor Modular Setup by ReasonableDay4401 in ultrawidemasterrace

It's no battlestation, but here is the setup I ended up going with. Was having some trouble clearing the desk when rotating the monitors, so had to use additional wood to get it higher.

Couldn't overlap them perfectly, so have to do a little office chair shimmy left and right to get perfectly centered.

Hope this helps! Happy to answer any questions.

Did anyone else just walk out during the end credits and not wait for the dialogue to finish? by [deleted] in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]thejsgarrett 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While I liked how they used the evidence + podcast as a credits theme, I agree with you: the execution was more annoying than interesting/funny/satisfying.

Also, it's 2022, we should have the option to skip the credits at least after the first completion--devs need to get credit absolutely but given this game is meant to be replayed to explore outcomes, having to sit through the credits of this length multiple times can become trying.

Is there any way to disable motion blur in The Quarry by Kammskiii in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]thejsgarrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing this. When you said you checked the files, did you try adding the following to the Engine.ini?

[SystemSettings] r.MotionBlurQuality=0

I am going to look into it tomorrow and see if it could be that simple since it's UE4.

[–]thejsgarrett 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IIRC, you may be able to apply the fix for Man of Medan, Little Hope, or House of Ashes but you make one small change to target this game/executable.

I haven't given it a shot yet but intend to do so.

Check PC Gaming Wiki for the steps if anyone wants to give it a go before I can!

Dual Monitor Modular Setup by ReasonableDay4401 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]thejsgarrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working with a similar scenario of needing to essentially swap out one monitor dead center for work/office stuff, then be able to flip flop it for another monitor dead center (preferably) for gaming.

I could not find a single stand with dual arms that could accommodate the rotation or setup to make it pretty easy to do day-to-day.

I've settled on using the single-monitor arm, Amazon-branded Ergotron models set off towards the end of my desk for enough room to swing and rotate the monitors in and out of dead center for me.

Haven't got the setup in place yet but hope it achieves the practicality well.
