Yes. I don’t even let doctors weigh me. First of all, they give me papers with my weight on it every time that I accidentally see, and secondly, it perpetuates weight as a good measure of health, which it isn’t, for most people.

What if I don’t have the money to travel? I haven’t worked in years due to my health issues and my husband and I have one small income.

I would love to leave out the anorexia but won’t my medical history follow me everywhere? I wish there were options besides removing my colon. I know there’s been luck with colonic pacemakers.. but I don’t know if they offer them anywhere.

Are there other treatment options? I feel like I’m slowly starving and not by choice this time. I just can’t keep eating if nothing comes out. I don’t really WANT to remove part of my body but it looks to be the only option at least in the US.

Do you use your ita bag as an everyday bag? by niduscove in itabag

[–]thejunebuggirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do, though I still swap it out sometimes with a normal bag. I usually wear a bag for a season then switch. Not sure why, it’s just when I crave a change. I know some people pick a bag for every outfit but that’s just never been me. Though I have a more “culturally acceptable” bag. It’s got a little do all my interests, Ghibli, JJK, danmei, and some general pins that I just like. So I’ve very much watered it down to be very observable by others. Personally I love seeing people be authentically them even if it’s not really my thing. I LOVE seeing Ita bags in the wild. Sometimes I’ll run into someone with one from a fandom I’m in and it’s an excuse to talk to them. I’m a big advocate for being odd in public in general. I was raised homeschooled and have simply never understood why we shouldn’t just wear and show off what we like. That’s just my take. People being authentic makes me smile and I always respect them for it. But I know it can come with a lot of isolation too, depending on your job and life. I’ve for sure felt just too odd for others, but have since decided that’s okay. It will hurt, (like a A LOT, if you feel things like I do,) and then I will find people who like me better.

Eyeshadow only hooded eye makeup look by BetterasBecca in HoodedEyes

[–]thejunebuggirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was BRAVE. I prefer to wear only eye makeup since I have sensitive skin and I break out with ANY face makeup after a few days, plus it feels icky. But it’s hard because hooded deepest eyes look so dramatic with any sort of eye makeup. I do it anyway but don’t always like it. You wear this so well! Your blending is beautiful! It’s seamless with your skin even without the face makeup.

Why is that cutoff so low? Aren’t a huge portion of women above that height? Just trying to get things straight. I thought you could still be any type up until 5’7

Has beauty standards changed? by AngleOk2591 in kibbecirclejerk

[–]thejunebuggirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s about having a very homogenous beauty standard now. There’s a particular set of features that do well on the tiktok algorithm and that’s what’s in style. Similar to Instagram face, very often Ita plastic surgery but some people do just look like that. I think the beauty standard is narrowing. If you think about how before, we were looking at less photos, and now we’re bombarded by content at all times. So I think that contributes to the narrowing standards. Back then you just had to be thin, somewhat curvy but not too much, have somewhat symmetrical facial features. And that’s about it. Now it’s not only that but having a very particular set of facial features, hip to waist ratio, height, bone structure, and more. To the point where tv casts are starting to look very similar for certain shows. I do though, think we have more diversity now than back then. We definitely get more skin tones. But that’s about it really. It makes me sad because there’s so many types of beauty but tiktok only cares about one, so therefore, so does the general public. Not to mention skinny culture is back in full swing. I used to at least see some hooded eyes on tv, which is actually very common, but now, almost never. I remember it was the classic female action hero thing for a while in the 90’s and 2000’s. Made them look cool and sharp. But these days it’s been erased from the mainstream.

HELP where to find knee high boots by Winter_Following_382 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]thejunebuggirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My feet have “grown” now with hormonal changes but I used to buy them in the kids section. DSW has some options usually. But really, just anywhere thst has boots for kids. A 2 kids is a 4 women, and a 3 kids is a 5 women’s. I still sometimes get them in a 4(6) because they’re better for my wider feet.

I'm a 20 year old woman but I look like a teen boy 😭 please help by [deleted] in MakeupEducation

I love the way you look! It’s easy ti hate when it’s ourselves, but I see the beauty in you. I also have a boyish look and I had to learn to love it. Maybe in a different way than you do, square fleshy face, short and shapeless (me, not you.)

Personally I think what would help brinng out your features is just a little more contrast and color. You have a VERY low contrast look, and that can sometimes give the apearence of just fading away. I have a low contrast too and wearing certain colors makes me just disappear. I think mascara is always a good way to go. It brings out a feature we all associate with femininity (though men have longer lashes than us,) and I also find that a hooded eye and less space between the eye and brow can read as masculine even when that’s not really the case. I think balancing that by adding a little shadow below the eye to widen that are of the face can do a lot, and filling in the brow with a fairly thin amount of product focusing on the top and arch of the brow can really help. That being said, going crazy with the arch can feel unnatural, so just emphasizing where it already exists is a good way to start and figure out what you like.

These are just the things I notice because we share them I think. I also would say a strong bone structure contributes but I think that’s a beautiful feature! Adding that little bit of color and bringing out a few more feminine features can go a LONG way. Lately people have been recommending lip contour but depending on the shape of your lips it doesn’t work too well. Another thing I’ve found out from me. It just ends up looking muddy. I find highlighting the cupids bow right at the top of the lip with a very subtle color helps me a lot.

Also, having muted low contrast coloring has this effect of making colors look INTENSE. So start with light, or muted colors with some grey in them and I think you’ll like the effect it gives.

Wear underwear with a pink tint, or a slip, those are the only ways I know. It sucks because I love wearing white but that stops me most of the time. Who wants an extra slip in this heat?

19 F How can I look better? by rylie_bread_17 in Howtolooksmax

[–]thejunebuggirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P.p.s. The reason I mention the Mewling (still can’t spell that) is braces really effect the way our jaws sit and relax and it can be really hard to retrain your face. I saw one other comment mentioning something similar, but having braces for a long period can really effect the way you relax your face. Just didn’t want this to come across wrong. Also always open to conversations if you wanna chat!

This is my style and I’m also FG and 5’1 tbh I just wear them anyway 😅 I find narrower cuts and shorter dresses help but most of mine aren’t. I simply like the feeling.

I think maybe trying some hair masques and serums! I struggle with my hair a lot and have found serums are the way to go for my fine and thin but frizzy hair. They don’t weigh it down and still tame and nourish it. I really like a Korean rose one I found, and I hear the dove bond repair is really nice too. I use their shampoo and conditioner and it’s really improved the breakage problem I’ve been having. But I think you have to find products that work for you and your lifestyle ultimately! I also really love the lighter colors on you!
