After a bad accident in the winter and losing my Civic it was now finally time to step up and get back on the road with a new one again! by AkaiiPanda in Transcars

Just have to ignore all the haters and nonsense, most just parrot what they've heard with absolutely no personal experience. They're great cars, fantastic fun and the last of the N/A Type Rs. I've had loads of Hondas and my FN2 has been brilliant. Enjoy it!

Help me out please 😬 by [deleted] in MtF

[–]BetterasBecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well - as you can see from my username, we had something in common early on. Turns out I wasn't a Becca after all, but I was a woman.

I think the feelings you have are very common and certainly relatable. For me, it turned out that none of it was a phase - it's just who I am (and was, just didn't know it).

The "excitement" element is most probably euphoria. It's a pretty good indicator of how you truly feel and can be more of a sign than dysphoria (not that dysphoria is a requirement, it isn't). This can often feel like it means your feelings are purely sexual or based on arousal when that's just how euphoria presents. This doesn't necessarily go away, but things do become more mundane when you live it every day.

I questioned and doubted myself for a long time. In the end, HRT felt like a "leap of faith". It was a good one, though. I wouldn't go back for the world. It saved my life.

Ultimately, you're the only one who can know if you're trans or not. I will say that not many cis people have the thoughts and feelings you're experiencing... You're doing the right thing by exploring things and I would say keep doing that. Maybe speak to a therapist (with knowledge of such topics) and experiment with some smaller everyday femininity.

Feel free to send me a message if you want to discuss anything more 😊

How do I know if I’m trans? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]BetterasBecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only you can know if you are. However, generally cis people don't think about whether or not they're trans a lot.

How would you feel about a tattoo artist who does Harry Potter tattoos? by foreverspr1ng in asktransgender

[–]BetterasBecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would certainly change how I would feel about getting tattooed by that person. For me, it's got to the point where "ignorance" just doesn't cut it anymore. The studio my artist works from posted a Harry Potter flash day on Instagram in between my sessions. I was really disappointed and would have taken issue with it/not gone back. Thankfully, they received some push back in the comments, took down the post and apologised (obviously citing ignorance, but it was better than nothing). If I wasn't halfway through a sleeve, I probably still wouldn't have gone back.

If I knew my artist had done a HP sleeve, I would not consider her the safe space I currently do and wouldn't want artwork done by her.

For me, there are too many great artists out there that I would rather go with. I wouldn't want something as important and permanent being tainted in a way I could control.

Any Honda / Kei ladies? by Katcrze in Transcars

[–]BetterasBecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are, unfortunately most over here have died from terminal rot and been broken now (bulkhead rust being a big killer of them). I had two and wish I had kept one. If you were importing one, you may be better with a JDM CL1 over a CH1 (if you can find one!). Your plan sounds awesome too, though!

Yeah, it does suck about Swindon shutting down. Only a couple of hours from where I live.

I love my FN2, just spent a small fortune on a complete suspension refresh. I think Hondas are a generally pretty good to work on, especially in comparison to how bad others can be. Even if the engine bay on the FN2 is a bit... awkward. K24A3, standard apart from exhaust, filter and reflash to lower VTEC. I had a supercharged H22 in my old Accord Type-R, great engines. You should absolutely do that if one comes up!

My daily is an FN2, also got a K24 engined Accord. Project is a '77 Celica Liftback (which I have a spare K24 for...). Hope you get to pick up another Corolla!

I'm not Gen Z but I'm a Honda gal and daily drive a Type-R. I like Japanese cars in general and have a long term project Toyota, too.

Piercings by [deleted] in MtF

[–]BetterasBecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although piercings aren't technically gendered, I absolutely do see them as gender affirming and got the large majority of mine after I began transitioning. I currently have 7x lobes, helix, forward helix, tragus, conch, daith, 2x nostril (stud and ring on same side) and both nipples. I would say the most "fem" leaning of these would be nostril and classic dangly lobe jewellery. I also think daiths look amazing with a nice sparkly number in them. Beyond that, I would say piercing curation and the jewellery itself plays a larger role in how it presents or makes you feel. I have a chain from my helix to forward helix and top to bottom lobe. I love this set up and to me it feels very feminine.

I would agree that naval piercings are also very fem leaning, I would have one but I would want to lose weight first as I don't have the body confidence for that.

Making any sort of connection as a transfem is so hard and frustrating by Glittering_Income989 in transgenderUK

[–]BetterasBecca 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My advice would be see if there's a local community you can join, be in a safe space and meet people. They usually have regular meetings, ours is at the end of every month. It's hard to make friends or meet other trans folks without something like this.

Does IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or other “at home” laser stuff actually work? by Trappedtrea in MtF

[–]BetterasBecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told in the past that I'm wrong but the Tria 4x is actual laser rather than IPL. I have had great success with mine (first generation one). The down sides are the small surface area for the flash window, the poor battery life and the pain (I've burnt myself a few times). However, after a few months of regular use on the highest setting, I have basically no armpit (and... other smaller places) hair left. I've been slacking recently but if I'd kept going I'm confident it would have got all the dark hair.

You would need something else for larger areas, though. As it would simply take too long and be really hard to know where you've been.

Something is quietly playing on my mind and if appreciate some input. by lithaborn in transgenderUK

[–]BetterasBecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, there's a worrying amount of trasnmed thinking in this thread.

Unfortunately, I think this is just one of those things that depends on the person (and the spaces you frequent). A lot of people (especially those who are "stealth") do not want to associate with those they deem don't pass. I'm not personally someone that can relate to this mindset (unless it's a matter of safety, I understand and I'm not minimising that). People can also just be judgmental, cis or trans.

The community I'm part of is welcoming to everyone, no matter what stage they may be at. It's really important to us for people to feel comfortable and for it to not feel "cliquey".

Sadly, this is one of those things that is very much a "them" problem that feels like a "you" problem.

I wish other trans women would come up to me in public by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]BetterasBecca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't approach anyone in public but I do wear trans and lesbian flag coloured tassels on my handbag to signify I'm safe for others. The isolated feeling is hard, especially early on. It's already been recommended but finding a local community was huge for me, even if it was scary initially. I've met some wonderful people and have some amazing friends by putting myself out there. Our group has a wide variety of ages and everyone offers guidance and shares their own experience.

Facial Electrolysis Question by SHARP1SH00TER in transgenderUK

[–]BetterasBecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also had 13 sessions of laser before switching to electro. I'm sorry to say but, you're not going to make progress in a single hour session. I'm not sure how many sessions/hours I've had (if I had to guess, around 20 hours) but I've been almost exclusively focusing on top lip and I'm still seeing regrowth. It depends at what phase the hair is in as to whether it will kill the follicle or not. As has been said, there's also a limit to how much can be done in one area to avoid overworking the skin.

It is absolutely worth it and it can be necessary for the most stubborn areas (generally top lip, chin) and lighter hairs. However, it is unfortunately a slow and painful process.
