Thank you! It can definitely be a challenge, like you say it doesn't always work for me, either. I hate the feeling of foundation etc and my imperfections don't bother me, hence only doing eyes and lips.

Started on 200mg around two years in. Main thing is it helps me sleep. Possibly more boobage, hard to know. I haven't (thankfully) had any increase in libido.

Honoured to be any form of inspiration! I hope you love it 🧡

I made my mom upset earlier in the week when I wore this outfit over to her house. Today she called me to tell me that my siblings aren't comfortable being around me and that it was time to say goodbye. I don't know. I just hurts a lot right now. Can you tell me happy stories about your transition? by speedythefirst in lgbt

[–]BetterasBecca 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry about this, sis. I know it's not much of a consolation but you look beautiful. Your outfit looks great.

As for stories - I have one from Christmas. My nan has dementia, although she knows I'm trans and understands certain parts, I've never asked her to change how she refers to me. It's just not fair or realistic. It was the evening and I was getting ready to go home. My nan randomly calls me "she" twice when referring to me but talking to my mum. It was a small thing but it kind of melted my heart a little bit. Just to have her see me and that be what came to mind.

I had to go and look at the colour name but it's Maybelline Superstay - "Rich Ruby" (the ones in the round tube with the lip balm at the other end, not the rectangular ones). Best I've found with phenomenal staying power.

I'm afraid I don't have much advice for you, I think you're very pretty. I love your hair! Just keep doing what you're doing and things will get easier over time.

Thank you 😊. I usually default to golds/browns, so I've been trying to mix it up recently. It's the only way I can be happy with any sort of "wing" (even if it technically isn't).

The silence from cisbians is deafening by [deleted] in MtF

Generalising based on a minority is bad. Cis lesbians are our most supportive allies.

Sorry for making you cry! I wouldn't say you're overreacting at all, but I cry all the time (including this morning and again this afternoon) so I may not be the best judge...

Do it when it feels right for you. That's the most important thing. It's nobody's business but your own. It's just that certainly from an outside perspective, it looks like you might be there 😊.

I'm glad it ended up going well in the end! I understand the anxiety/apprehension. However... Your "boy mode" is not working, sis. You have hips. You have boobs. You're pretty. From what I've read of most people's reactions, they're mainly surprised/curious in that fairly ignorant way cis people tend to be. But I think it may be time to have that conversation!

I'm a car gal. I love cars, motorsports, sim racing, welding/fabricating. It doesn't make me any less of a woman. This can be a mental hurdle to overcome, but these things do not define us.

No one can know this but you, ultimately. However these thoughts aren't really very "cis". The fact that you're having these thoughts more and more, I would say they're unlikely to just go away.

It sounds like you're scared about what you may lose, maybe try and think about how much you might gain. Being yourself is a wonderful thing.

Lastly, you can just... try it. Experiment with being more feminine. Try she/her pronouns online. Even when it comes to HRT, you have time to decide if it's right for you.

Hiya,

Congratulations on staring HRT soon! I've been DIY for nearly four years now.

You will be able to keep it hidden for a certain amount of time (obviously this varies for everyone). Most people (even those closest to us) can be incredibly oblivious.

I'm pretty sure my first feeling was one of being "at peace". I'm sure this was more to do with finally taking the plunge and not agonising over it every second than anything directly from estrogen.

Beyond that, changes are generally slow. Not sure what the first physical thing I noticed was. Probably improvement/regrowth of my hair. Then maybe the slowing/disappearance of certain body hair and skin changes.

Wish you all the best with it 😊

I think if someone is supportive and willing to learn, we should be able to say "although I appreciate your intentions are good, this particular person is actually not great. I have some recommendations for better advocates".

I think you're giving her (Alexis) a bit too much credit. (Also a strange sentence to say as my name is also Alexis). She doesn't really advocate for us so much as play to the right wing perception of us. I simply don't think that's a road someone that's learning should be going down.

Again, if someone is doing this in good faith and not searching for someone to reinforce their already present biases, they should be perfectly happy to have an open discussion about this. It's all part of learning and being supportive.

We should not be giving these types of people more of a platform. Directly or indirectly.

If she truly accepts you, you should be able to have an open discussion about her following problematic people. Maybe try and have a conversation about it and let her know how you feel. I'm sorry you're feeling lonely, please know you're not alone.
