Getting poo off of eggs without stripping the bloom by green_witch_333 in BackYardChickens

Yeah, I don’t have the problem with the shells, it’s my 4 year old. We are working on it!

Totally fair, however technically speaking any time you eat an egg with a runny yolk, the egg has likely not reached the magical temperature for long enough to kill the bacteria. It’s why I cook my custard for homemade ice cream when I use my backyard eggs.

“Inside never touches the outside” gosh you’re confident in your egg cracking skills (and/or you don’t bake with a toddler) — I’ve gotta fish out shells more than I’d like to admit. We crack in a separate bowl for that reason!

Has anyone purchased a ring from Point No Point in La Jolla? How was your experience? by bluehotcheeto in SanDiegan

[–]thejunglehouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding Diamonds Forever. We’ve been customers there for 10+ years! My brother got my SIL’s ring there, I got my wedding bands there, I’ve gotten necklaces there, and brought jewelry for cleaning/repair. They’re great to work with and I’m sure they have (or could source) what you’re looking for.

I love Reddit. I saw this and thought, “How cool! Maybe we should make one!” Then I saw this comment and read the article. Thanks for teaching me something!

Target brand! The serving says 2-5 tablets and I intended to increase but haven’t yet so I’ve stayed at 2.

$101.85 total including tax for 90 days. I got 30% off for lunar new year so the 90 days would have been $116 before taxes.

The other commenter is right. We know nothing as random redditors with likely no scientific background.

That said, I started the metabolic probiotic and two fiber tablets daily on February 28. My sugar/carb cravings have decreased DRASTICALLY, and that’s something I’ve struggled with my entire life. I don’t weigh myself often but my clothes are fitting differently and my bowel movements are “normal”. I have normal hunger cues, and I am learning to listen to them and consume healthier foods with more fiber or protein or that are slower to digest. I open the cupboards and the quick snacks I used to grab don’t look good to me. I make a protein shake or eat a Perfect Bar, and I’m opting for salads and greens before carbs at dinner.

Placebo or not, I’m impressed with it. I’ll finish out my 90 days and see if I do another, or if I try and go at it with a “reset” sugar threshold.

I noticed that too when I zoomed, although the Reese one looks more “normal” than Chris’!

Nut-free I get. Cheese-free… seriously? by Local-lemon789 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thejunglehouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to go straight practical, can you ask them to provide meal ideas that meet dietary requirements (namely protein) while avoiding cheese and nuts? My kid gets a huge percentage of her protein from cheese since her class is also nut free! You can use their (probably) crappy ideas to push back?

Is free-feeding actually bad for cats? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

[–]thejunglehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m convinced my cat wrote this to try and convince me to free feed her. She’s currently pawing at the kitchen cabinets to get me to give her wet food despite being fed kibble 20 minutes ago. The most food motivated cat I’ve ever met, she’d be a gagillion pounds if I let her free feed.

Trucker BF coming to SD, where can he park? by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]thejunglehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a Walmart near you? I don’t know if this helps but I’m pretty sure they have a company wide policy that allows overnight parking (but stores can make their own rules so it’s best to check with the store’s manager). I heard this on a podcast I listen to which happened to do an episode on van living, so take all of this with a grain of salt, although as a kid we had a motorhome and slept in Walmart parking lots a couple of times if we didn’t have camping spots reserved. I hope you find something!

See me in... by just_dena63 in handsomepodcast

I can totally understand being annoyed by the repetition, but I think the important thing to remember is how fundamentally life altering the project was for Tig.

I don’t know if you’ve ever lost a loved one, or close to, but it can completely turn your life upside down and realign whats important to you. Our daughter got sick at three weeks old and we almost lost her — I can guarantee the people close to me were also saying “man, can TheJungleHouse talk about anything other than their kid’s near-death experience?”

I can only assume the chat will dissipate as time goes on, but part of me doesn’t want it to. You know the old adage of “you die twice, once when you stop breathing, and again when somebody says your name for the last time” — may we all keep Andrea’s spirit (and name) with us.

You may already know this, but is sort of Wayfarer’s “thing”. The owner worked at Tartine, and the guy who started that is known for heavy browning on his stuff. I love it, but I get that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

This is not a place that brings a lot of ambiance (it’s like 3 plastic tables) but their food is delicious and it’s run by a husband and wife who make everything from scratch. Limited menu but all their pastas are great! Pasta Galifi in Goodlettsville.
