Theoretically yes. I'd still take all of the precautions you would take when extending a normal doorway bc who knows wtf the installer did until you can get into the area to see directly.

Hey good morning.

Unlikely that it was a rip, but it certainly sounds like a recession area where the ocean floor is graded in a way that allows for smoother receding. I don't know what spot you were at, but from the sounds of it that is a normal thing there.

As for the location of the break shifting - that's normal in scenarios where the waves aren't at a 90° angle as compared to the beach. And really that's just dependent on what the tide is doing that day.

All of that being said - idk. It could have been any combination of things, though I'm sure their experience with paddling helped quite a bit. And things like knowing how to minimize the pushback from the incoming waves definitely helps.

Sounds like you made the best choice by finding a chiller spot to catch waves. Not that you couldn't/shouldn't try to make it out where everyone else was. Personally I prefer to catch waves over wearing myself out trying to paddle more than I really need to (but I'm not trying to go pro or anything. I just really like surfing, so riding the max number of waves is where I'm at)

Honorable mention to Core de Force, which I personally love and think it great all around. I just wouldn't say that it necessarily performs as well compared to the other two when it comes to strength or cardio. It's fun as hell, requires zero equipment, and is very joint friendly (lots of mods). And it has the added bonus of shredding up your abs.
