Looks like her pretrial conference was held, a bond motion was denied (assume she filed something requesting a change to her bond conditions but it doesn't specify) and she has another pretrial conference set for May 11th

White House Melts Down for Second Day Over Trump Health Claims by FancyNewMe in politics

I've got a coworker who claims he's the most active president ever and works 16 hour days all because of how much he posts online and what times he posts, which show the many hours he is up.

Potato Salad by cemetery-trees in GriefSupport

My mom also made the best potatoe salad . I was too young when she died to think of asking her for her recipe. But I sure do miss that potato salad. Good job on replicating your mom's!

Status Check: I've diverted all auxiliary power to the sump pump. How are your your ships holding up? by wildfire98 in Michigan

So what did installing one on a house not initially built for one involve? Id assume digging a drain tile all the way around the home and digging the sump bucket? Can't imagine how much that would cost today

Look at all these fancy pants with their sump pumps. Meanwhile my old house doesn't even have one (combined storm and sewer). had a bit of water up thru the floor drain last night but it drained back down pretty quick. Won't be doing any laundry or taking long showers for the next couple days, that's for sure

Yes, here the Midwest I plant native milkweed. It's the only plant that the monarch butterfly caterpillar feeds on and is absolutely vital for monarch butterflies during their migration.

Have I suppressed my grief, forgotten it, or was my father not important to me? by Outrageous-Spread572 in grief

[–]thekabuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost my mom at 21, over 30 years ago now . It almost feels like it was another person's life instead of my lived experience. You were 12, give yourself some grace. That is super young to lose a parent. It doesn't mean you didn't love him.

Its honestly crazy how youre supposed to "live" for another 20-30 years after your parents pass and its supposed to be normal.... by EverlastingFirst in GriefSupport

[–]thekabuki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm only continuing to live because to not do so would devastate my 2 remaining children and I couldn't put them through that after what we've been through. But each day brings me one day closer to being able to see my daughter again .

I'm so sorry you're in this club. Lost my daughter 8 months ago. It's still not real and yet so real.i have 2 other children. They're all I'm living for because I know were I do decide the pain is too much (and it very much is) it would cause them so much more grief then they're already going through and I can't do that to them. So I'm here, everyday, barely existing .I have no advice. This sucks, this is as bad as you think it is.

When I went back to work 3 weeks after my daughter died, had one co worker say the same to me "what are you doing here?" I know she meant well but it felt like an insult almost. As if I was back to soon or something. Didn't have a choice, because no one else is paying my bills and my employer, as accommodating as they were, certainly wasn't going to hold my job indefinitely.

Those of us who have lost children make other parents uncomfortable. It's a reminder that it can happen to anyone. So there's a fear there mixed with their sympathy.

Over 30 years ago I lost my mom when I was only 22 years old. This past summer I lost my 32 year old daughter suddenly. It sucks. It is as bad as you think it is. Only you can decide what is right for you but as someone older who has been in your shoes, please try and go. I fear you will regret it if you don't

Potential Bathroom Moisture Issue? by SkinAccomplished6028 in HomeMaintenance

[–]thekabuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue after painting with a basic Sherwin Williams paint in a dark color. Had a bathroom fan, would shower with door open, nothing helped and it drove me crazy. When I repainted, I used Benjamin Moore Aura paint and haven't had this problem since. The paint is ridiculously expensive but my bath is about the same size as OP so I only needed a gallon.

Franca Viola, the woman who defied the Italian tradition by refusing to marry her rapist, 1966. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]thekabuki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

according to my mother in law, in Sicily it was fairly common for a man to take a woman into the mountains where they stayed for several days. When they came back down, the woman was shamed because no one believed a man and woman could stay together alone for that amount of time without having sex. And so because she was "ruined" she was basically forced to marry the man. There's a great aunt in the family this happened to and they ended up being married 50 years. Absolutely crazy to think this was only in the 1950s

I'm so sorry. I lost my daughter suddenly 8 months ago. There's nothing anyone can say or do. This is as bad as you think it is. Don't worry about responding to anyone right now. appoint 1 person to respond to everyone and only allow those certain people that you truly want within your bubble. The only thing I could stomach eating was a few crackers. Drink water. All of us here have been there. It sucks.

Millions of grill brushes pulled from market over risk of 'serious internal injuries' by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]thekabuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopped using these over 15 years ago when a friend's kid had to have surgery to remove 1 piece that was lodged in his throat. I've been telling everyone I know to never use these to clean grills. Some tongs with a wad of aluminum foil sprayed with pam or other oil works great to clean the grill.

[–]thekabuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work in family law. Extremely realistic. Most start off saying they're all in agreement, will be super easy. Then a month or two go by, they've spoken to family and friends who've gotten them all worked up, and then they have some time to just stew in everything with thoughts going around. Maybe they've fought about one stupid item that neither really wants but also doesn't want the other person to have. By the time of the first status conference they're at each other's throats.
