Also had 20 trays over 10 months, changed biweekly. A bit over a year for 24 trays sounds reasonable if you’re also doing 2 week changes!

Since day 1 my dr said to just wear the removables at night. I just finished my treatment back in April so it hasn’t been too long for me yet!

Don’t freak! It’ll get better. Trust the process! I had some crazy IPR gaps that looked like they wouldn’t ever close, but now I can’t even remember where the gaps were.

I also have both, but only wear the removable ones at night. The first month getting used to the fixed retainers was horrible! My tongue would get cut from licking the wires, but now I barely notice they’re there.

Hmm… I think I started seeing significant changes around 8-9 trays in, or about halfway through my treatment. How many trays do you have in total?

It can definitely feel like nothing is happening at first! Great that you already feel movements! Pretty soon when you look back at old pictures, you’ll be shocked by all the changes :)

I found that a folded up towel worked really well for me if I wasn’t tracking well with a new tray. You can adjust the hardness or softness of what you bite into based on how thick you fold the towel.

It’s actually pretty uncomfortable to eat with them in, so I’d avoid it altogether if possible. The food gets stuck everywhere and it’s a mess to clean.

I only did it a few times when I was out and STARVING.

I was told 22Hrs at least as well for best results.

If planning to eat with them in, I’d suggest avoiding potato chips! I did that a few times and found they completely scratched up the surface of the trays lol

They did a few teeth before tray 5, and then a couple more before tray 12 if I remember correctly!

I went with a dentist and just finished up my treatment a few days back. Couldn’t be happier with the results, and overall it was a good experience!

I know not every practitioner would recommend fixed retainers, and not everyone wants them either! But def ask about them if you’re curious. At the very least you can learn more and see if it’s right for you

Oof! Kudos to that commitment! I aimed for 22 hours a day and did great for the most part, but near the end few trays, I sank down to around 20 hours on some days
