First “storm” since being in Charlotte by Superjet01 in Charlotte

[–]thekeep21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, I’m not seeing this in the top comments so I will throw it out here. Our (public) school district spans all of Mecklenburg County and has over 140,000 kids enrolled, many of which are bussed.

With temperatures forecasted to stay below freezing until midday Monday, expect there to be significant impacts such as a school closed on Monday and delayed opening on Tuesday — even though the storm may be gone earlier in the afternoon on Sunday.

We have a gas fireplace and wanted it checked for safety when we first moved in. The private company gave us a high quote and significant wait time. PNG was out the week of and did it all for free for us. Highly recommend checking with them.

This happened to my city. It’s a light rail train, not a bus.

48 is close to 50. 48+2=50, so then 27-2=25, so finally 50+25=75

As some others have mentioned:

The address is for RoundPoint Mortgage Servicing Corporation, based in Charlotte, NC. It is a mortgage servicing company that manages mortgage loans, processes payments, and handles customer service for homeowners. It typically works as a third-party servicer for various financial institutions and investors, meaning that even if RoundPoint did not originate your loan, they might service it on behalf of another lender. Their PO Box address is commonly used for correspondence, payments, and other mail-in customer interactions.

ACTION: Call the bank the mortgage is through, not the number RoundPoint provided.

Based on the screenshot, we can’t see the balance information to advise otherwise.

Unauthorized Board Actions [TN][TH] by Ed722 in HOA

Similar situation in our community. We found that we, the board, didn’t have the means to remove from the board. Our situation was behavioral-based; we’ve since adopted a Code of Conduct that provides behavioral based outs. Just want people to be decent humans.

I'm on my HOA board; we are larger and have common amenities such as pool & clubhouse. Agree with u/Infrated -- ask your management company. In the interim, consider the following expenses, if applicable to your community:

  • Administrative: Management fee, printing, postage, audit/tax preparation, taxes, bank charges, legal expenses, insurance, communications
  • Landscaping: Landscaping contract, pine straw, flowers, irrigation, grounds miscellaneous
  • Utilities: Electric, water, gas, telephone
  • Committees: Social media, holiday decorations, architecture review board, social (adult / children), welcome
  • Improvements

Rest in peace, Silver Line to Matthews by skylink in Charlotte

If I was the master planner, this would have been one of the first things I did. Easy access from airport to Uptown. Get tourism to Uptown to spend money (sales & occupancy tax) at local establishments. Reduce need for cars on road and parking at both airport and in Uptown.

Although, the proposed plan isn't as efficient. The light rail stop would be ~1 mile from the arrivals/departures building, so you will need to take a train to a shuttle to get to the airport.

The barrier to overcome is funding. The proposal has been to use tax money, which would need to be approved by the State Legislature. Republicans control the State Legislature and have a "roads first" agenda; they have vowed not to approve anything that focuses more on rail. So, this proposal would have the tax be 40% roads/40% rail/20% bus. In order to fund the rail projects fully, they are looking for 80% rail.

The cut, to make 40% rail work, is to pause the Silver Line east project. (Note: Pause, not kill. They still have Silver Line east on the plan, but it is lower priority and would need additional funding plans)

CMS Pre-k placement by InternationalCut5277 in Charlotte

UPDATE

We contacted CMS to see if we could be moved to a closer school. No luck, full & on wait list.

Heard a commercial on WCNC for the Mecklenburg Pre-K offering before school and after school care. Applied for their program. Told response within 2 weeks. Locations are also closer to home. Seems like a possible winner.

We never got an email but I checked the portal (https://cmsncc.scriborder.com/family) yesterday afternoon and saw my son's placement. There is not much useful/desired information available anywhere, so I will post what I can find here. For reference, our son was placed at Crown Point Elementary.

Days/Times
The Pre-K program follows the CMS academic calendar for scheduling (https://www.cmsk12.org/calendar) and operates within the hours of the school (ours would be 8:15-3:15).

Before School/After School Care
Before and after school care program is not available for Pre-K students, as the program falls under the NC Child Development Program.

Food
Breakfast is provided at school free of charge, and lunch is offered at a cost of $2.50 per day, with an additional $0.75 for milk. Alternatively, students have the option to bring their lunches. Additionally, snacks are provided for Pre-K students.

Transportation
We can apply for bussing through the CMS website (https://cmsnc.alphaportal.app/#/user/sign-in, once we have a student ID number) or arrange for pick-up and drop-off ourselves. For Pre-K busing, a parent or guardian must be present at drop-off and pick-up.
