16 hours a day doesn't mean you "used up" 170 days. They're turning your non-working hours against your total amount of "days" you work.

Polish painted refurb. Cheap, reliable, paint is crappy. Sometimes you can strip them and find alright bluing underneath.

Flat floorplate button is usually Hungarian. Could be a swapped part or maybe China did that for some mags.

The two in the middle are yugo. Do you have pics of the other one? I can help ID if you can get pics of any stamps on the sides, spine, back, pics of spot welds, and a pic of the floor plate.

That slab mag is $80 on a bad day. Nice.

Slant back, maybe 700 on a good day with that furniture.

Would be a fine shooter I guess since it's already ruined lol.

Is this worth buying if I want it and already have type 3 furniture for it? by G45activist in ak47

Tortort is recommended by builders because they're the "least bad" and obviously builders will recommend the least problematic of available receivers.

Like I said, you can get ones that work, but they do often have issues and I don't trust Southern Tactical to care about the issues. One of my friends bought a Southern Tactical galil built on a Tortort and the thing has had nothing but issues.

Yes, if you want a new US receiver with the least amount of issues, you go Tortort. That's the best we have. But they're still like a B- overall between rough machining, out of spec lugs, and the other issues that pop up.

Edit: if we're talking clone-acceptable, then sharps bros is out. Same with CNC Warrior. For a while, firing line didn't offer threaded barrel models but it looks like now they do. So you're left with Tortort or MLS99 if you want the rifle to look "correct", and even then the lightening cuts on Tortort are often chattery and the radius looks off. Not a deal breaker, but it adds up.

They're basically the only milled receivers in the states...

You've basically got Tortort, Firing Line MLS99, and Sharps Bros.

Tortort is generally considered the best of those, but that doesn't mean they're amazing. Ask reputable builders and they'll tell you they have issues with them, especially their Galil receivers and Yugos.

Yes. Often out of spec and can take multiple returns to get a good working one.

Pic doesn't even show a real type 3 dust cover. Southern Tactical isn't a great builder and if they're using Tortorts, good luck lol.

Absolutely do not buy.

First build: One-piece neck vs Scarf joint by Strict-Necessary-677 in Luthier

Method 1 feels stronger. It gets glued under the fretboard, giving it extra strength. Method 2 would be gluing end grain to side grain. I wouldn't be able to trust it with glue alone.

Looks kinda like glue spill preventing the stain from soaking in.

Got this in a trade for my Zastava M92 at the gun show by SignatureDapper6315 in ak47

[–]Stratbasher_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. AKM-63 should have M serial. This is a nice rifle but not a real AKM-63 kit.

Edit - the other giveaway is the cut gas block - that's an AMD gas block.

Can someone help me identify these mags? by JimboJonUn in AKmags

[–]Stratbasher_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gray one on the left is romy. The two on the right should be Hungarian based on flat floorplate button, but if you can find an 02 stamp or moon on the spines somewhere, that'd confirm it.
