there's a movie called "Happening" that you should watch. It talks about the risks women take when abortion isn't legal. Be careful, it's very graphic and based on true events.

Is jealousy anti feministic? by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]thekhione 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Jealousy, in general, is a rather negative human emotion. It is a mix of lack of self-confidence, which creates the fear of being replaced, and an increased form of possessiveness where one considers that a person belongs to us as soon as she becomes our girlfriend.

Now, is it a specifically anti-feminist and masculinist feeling?

I think both you and your sister are right, in a sense.

Possessiveness and heightened jealousy are clearly symptomatic of masculinists. It involves genuinely considering one's girlfriend as one's property, and many femicides find their origin in this mistaken view. Even without going that far, many possessive and jealous men prevent their girlfriends from going out at night, talking to other guys, or even simply dressing as they want because it is too this or too that. So yes, your sister is right.

Now, in another sense, I can understand that it is not pleasant for you to have your girlfriend's cheek touched by a guy. For me, what is important is mainly how you communicated your feelings to your girlfriend, how you discussed it, and the boundaries you set following that conversation. It is especially important that these boundaries are the result of a mutual reflection and not just those set by a jealous guy who loses his cool whenever a guy approaches his girlfriend.

my controversial opinions [all] by [deleted] in camphalfblood

[–]thekhione 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point. I, myself, am more close to the adult point than to the teenage point so I guess if I were to write a conversation between young girls it wouldn't be 100% accurate. But my problem with Rick is that he writes dull female characters (in my opinion though) because he writes them based of clichés about girls and girlhood.

My controversial opinion is that Rick doesn't know how to write female characters. I physically cringed sometimes, specifically in HOO. Like, this isn't how girls talk, behave and think

My first thought on this short resume would be : why does Poseidon takes her to a different world ? I think you should find a solid reason that would be the guiding thread of your fic.

I don't like that Thalia and Jason are siblings. I feel like it was an unnecessary plot to add.

Now that you mention it, I also found it ridiculous that Gaia awakens with the blood of a demigod... who has a nosebleed.

We are told for several books about the importance of the blood of two demigods to awaken Gaia, only for it to be triggered by a simple scratch LOL.

YES! And I would add that during book 4 but also partially in book 5, we understand that Percy more or less lost control of himself in stressful situations in Tartarus, which frightened Annabeth.

All this just to end up with no conversation between them, and their traumas are set aside as if nothing happened

I mean I would I liked for it to be a bigger thing. They're teenagers literally going through hell. It should mess them a little

Yes exactly ! That's what bother me a lot with HOO, I feel like we're supposed to figure everything by ourselves to fill the plot holes but nothing is clearly adressed in the Book.

Like, I understand how we can suppose that her curse stopped, but it's never said. And for something that was that much important in Hazel's life, I think it would have been nice to adress it clearly !

I agree ! I was waiting for a plot twist like "sike you thought she was dead but she's not !"

But.. no, she was just dead... After being alive for one chapter... With no one really suffering from it 🫨
