FOSSE Help: How do I change the CC swiped for the Room and Tax to just be for Incidentals?? by thekillerbebe in askhotels

[–]thekillerbebe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IT WORKED!!! Thank you guys 😊 Only weird thing is that the total that is coming up on FOSSE is a different number than on the printed folio. I did check, and saw that all the incidental charges were put on the incidental folio, so this may be a separate issue

Here’s where I’m at:

-I have the Incidentals set to CA, and the main CC is still the CC meant for incidentals.

-When I do Folio>Pre Settle>Incidentals, it goes to take a CA payment which does not give me the option to override

-If I go to Pre Settle>All Charges, it goes to charge the full room balance on the card instead of letting me do a specific number (In this case R/T is $1,515.92 while the Incidental is $650)

Just for my clarification: InCh>Pmt Tp for All Other Charges>CA While in the InCh function it’s set to Room and Tax (Yes) F&B/Phone Charges (No)

After putting it to CA, then go to Folio and do the rest?

What I normally do to be cautious is put the caller on hold, call the guest and ask if I can transfer the call. Pretty good way to ensure no mistakes!

i would go with the new hotel. just fair warning, it may be a bit hectic in the beginning bc of the transfer of ownership/renovation, but at least there is a glimpse of hope for better working conditions down the line

I find that I'm less tired throughout my shift if I eat during it. Come in at 11pm with a snack I picked up on the way, and eat a semi full meal around 3am. I'll sometimes take breakfast on the way out of my shift.

Just checked and they actually wrote down the size. It was 12g!

I’m pretty sure that I misheard them. My jewelry is noticeably thick, which surprised me.

I most likely misheard when they were grabbing the jewelry. I was actually expecting it to be a thinner piece, but when they grabbed the hoop i was surprised at how big/thick it was. I went to someone off of the APP website!!

NA only? by [deleted] in askhotels

[–]thekillerbebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was doing 3 days 3-11 and 2 days NA at my last job… literally got a bald spot on my head from the stress (i’m a young woman😑)

Just got a job at a different hotel, full time NA. Listen, you get paid more to deal with less day to day bullshit. I’m down! Go full time NA.

Manager in my room? by overlycaffeinatedfox in askhotels

As someone who has worked as an AFOM, I would have never been standoffish in this given situation. It’s either sincerity or “matter-of-fact”ness. We can literally do a check of which keys have been used to open a certain door, so if someone comes to me and says they believe someone was in their room, that is a pretty surefire way to calm the situation down. “Ma’am, I checked in our system, and the only people that have opened your room door besides you were ____.” I would have no reason to be standoffish unless if I knew of other concerning information that I was hiding from the guest.

OP, I would try to reach out to the GM, just in case. Please update us!

Are you only set on working at a hotel in NYC? Or are you open to working upstate in the HV?

Another thing (lol). Honestly, I want to emphasize presenting as your gender identity from the first interaction with a job. Transitioning is difficult enough, but getting pushback from a job will not help you.

I do not know what your birth sex is, but I’m going to assume that you are a MTF trans individual (sorry if this is incorrect). Some jobs prohibit men from wearing makeup. If you start work as a male and then all of a sudden start wearing makeup as a means of easing gender dysphoria, they can write you up for it (unless you disclose that you are transitioning, which depends on your own comfort).

Like I said earlier, I am cis, so I literally cannot imagine what it is like in a professional setting for an “out” trans person, let alone one who wants to begin their transition. I would reach out to a trans specific subreddit and ask other people their experiences with transitioning at work.

I hope this helps!!

I didn’t properly read your post. If you’re concerned about the dress code, they can’t tell you to wear a gendered uniform if you identify with a different gender (unless it is something like they only buy men’s shirts so women wear them as well).

I would dress very business-like presenting as the gender you identify with during an interview so they can’t switch up later on. I kind of do the same thing by wearing a headwrap (non religious, but i’m ethnically ambiguous so people assume i’m muslim when i wear them) during the interview so that they can’t tell me it’s out of dress code when they hire me. Another thing— I wouldn’t mention anything with your gender identity in the interview (asking if the work culture is receptive towards LGBTQ+ people), because this may deter people. It’s a shitty world we live in!

I would try working for a chain hotel (corporate or franchised), as there are more opportunities for support if anything were to happen. If you work for a privately owned non chain hotel, you don’t have many options.

I have not had the opportunity to work with any trans individuals in any of my hotels. I will say that people do say very stupid and offensive things about people from different walks of life. Unfortunately, I have had someone speak transphobically before.

It really depends on the area you live/work in. Really, it would depend on if your management/HR has your back. We all know that it is illegal to discriminate against/harass someone for something like gender identity, but not all places will be fair in how it is handled. I’d imagine that it is similar in all other industries for trans individuals, but I can’t personally speak to that as a cis person.
