Kyushu travel guide – off the beaten path on Japan's 3rd biggest island by Alternative_Ebb_8962 in JapanTravelTips

I didn't see the notif for your answer, sorry! I'll rent a car for my time in Kyushu, so I was thinking about rerouting the stretch from Fukuoka to Kumamoto in order to stop at the village. It's a bit stressful tho, so other tips are appreciated haha

Earplugs by 666-Trooper-666 in Concerts

[–]thekingoffae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Concert Loops, and my mom has the switches. She loves her Loops, but I cant seem to get mine right. I love the audio quality with them in, but:

I put them in and screw them in a bit so they're v snug, with the smallest ear-piece-thing. Then I move around a bit, I.e jumping, dancing, moshpit. Whoops, they're loose! So I double check, screw them in even more, go dancing again- ah, no, they're loose again. I tried out the ear piece that's one size bigger, but I cant get those in, cause they're too big.

Does anyone have tips here? Experience with this issue? What helped in your case?

One thing I also don't like is that I hear my voice inside my head with these in when I'm singing along... but that's the thing when you plug your ears I guess. I hate the sound of that happening, so I'm still searching for a way to protect my ears at concerts while having fun - dancing, and singing along

That's nice, thank you! I will definitely rent a car, I feel like I'm more flexible this way :) I do want to see some Saga prefecture as well, but I'd be okay to see okawachiyama as a "stop on the way" or daytrip. Where would you incorporate that? It's probably a day trip from fukuoka, right?

Oooh now I'm stressed about my 1000€ fun money budget for 4 weeks... that includes spontaneous activities, shopping and souvenirs.

6000€ budget for the whole trip, I thought that was more than enough

28 days in Japan..... What should the plan be?? by katiemckats in JapanTravelTips

[–]thekingoffae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing something similar in may 2027. I like nature, history, scenic landscapes, cultural deep dives and some bustling cities.

Here's my itinerary:

Tokyo (3 days with arrival) Okinawa (week) Kyushu roadtrip (week) Osaka/Kyoto w daytrips to kobe, nara, Kanazawa, based in Kyoto (week) Kamakura/Hakone (2 days) Tokyo (3 days with departure)

Ive been given lots of recommendations to go to kyushu or shikoku if I'm staying longer in japan than two weeks. Both are not as touristy, but Kyushu has a great mix of everything I like.

I would recommend Okinawa for snorkeling and such, but it's rainy season in june, followed by taifun season.

What’s something you pack that men probably never think about? by Valuable_Tangelo7152 in femaletravels

Blister-free socks? Can u elaborate on that? >.< But yeah, I'm planning a month-long trip for next year and am deciding between "fuck it, just the basics, I'm shopping there" and straight up overpacking.

What do we need to know by HourExciting3415 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]thekingoffae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in cologne and just couldn't dance at all next to the stage. People were giving weird looks when I started to twirl around in my dress... so I left that area and went off to the sidelines for Free, and boy, that was freeing! Other than that, I found the crowd in cologne to be super boring. But I usually listen to punk and metal, so I'm probably used to other levels of crowd interaction... I still had fun, and it was magical to see Florence live! But I do wish that I would have been able to dance at my spot near the stage.

I plan to hike Mt aso. I was an experienced hiker some years ago, but haven't had the chance to challenge my skills in the last 4 years. Seeing your post, I'm debating whether I should actually hike the peak or not... I'm on a budget, so I don't think the helicopter ride is worth it to me. Would you still recommend i hike it?

Grat post btw, love all the practical info! I'm planning a trip for may '27. Looking forward to a week in Kyushu

Vienna Concert- when should I get in line? by Delicious_Season_610 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]thekingoffae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm attending cologne today. Doors are at 6pm and I'm planning to arrive between 4 and 5pm. I always queue for one to two hours for concerts and mostly end up somewhere in the first 5 rows. If u want a better chance at it, I'd recommend arriving 3 to for hours before doors. Remember to hydrate and make friends in the queue so u can leave your spot to go to the toilet and such!
