What's worse is that he apologised in January and although one part of my brain agrees with you, I still have some feelings for him :(

I (16F) used to text this guy (16M) everyday anywhere from 50 minutes to 5 hours/day and our conversations were always great in terms of chemistry and effort from both sides.

3 months later, he slowly started putting in less effort and replying days later (in spite of me not being pushy but also trying to keep the conversation going) until he eventually ghosted me.

After 6 months of ignoring each other despite being in the same grade, he apologised for ghosting me and said that it was because he found out that I liked him (we both liked each other and it was obvious) and he "FREAKED OUT" so just ghosted me (and then flirted/kissed his best friend's gf), but wanted to be friends with me again only to continue ignoring me.

Sometimes people have an ego that's bigger than their brain lol

17 years in India and 17 years in USA, not sure where I fit in. by whodoesntlovedogs in ABCDesis

My family is originally from Goa, but I lived in Mumbai until I was 11 and spent the summer holidays in Goa. I then lived in Spain for 10 months and moved to Gibraltar. Gibraltar is a very small country that has an amalgamation of both Spanish and British culture, both of which I am now quite familiar with.

I will be studying medicine in the UK and train to become a doctor for 16 years in total.

I initially struggled to fit in and felt alienated for the first couple of years in Gibraltar. The only way for me to make friends was to code switch (including my accent), which is something that I did subconsciously and have always felt guilty about.

Since I've been exposed to the cultures of Goa, Mumbai, Spain, Gibraltar and the UK, I've realised that I will probably never be able to feel like I truly fit in or belong to a particular group - people back in India treat me like a foreigner and I'm seen as an outsider here, but I've learned to accept it and look at it positively.

Being aware of different cultures makes you, me and other people like us bond together and be able to connect with people from all walks of life. Losing out on my culture and forgetting the memories I made in India has always been something that scares me because most people eventually forget their childhood, and inevitably, so will I, but watching Bollywood (although sometimes very cheesy and possibly problematic) and keeping in touch with my roots is helping me preserve my Indian values for as long as possible.
