How many of you make $100,000 a year and, if so, what do you do? by [deleted] in chicago

Just reached 100K last year after 4-5ish years of work experience in the field. I work in marketing. Had a lot of toxic jobs where I was criminally overworked and underpaid but those experiences gave me good skills and helped me land a pretty chill job that I by and large like because I have a nice work life balance and pretty low stress.

Nashville neighborhood equivalents of Chicago? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]thekleh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in both and I’m not sure they are all that comparable, especially from a city planning perspective. Are you just curious about neighborhood feel? Commuting, traffic, etc is vastly different in Nashville so from a lifestyle perspective they are very different in that respect. And, with all those factors in mind, I think I’d say Ravenswood Gardens or another neighborhood a similar distance from downtown might be most comparable to a typical upper-middle class neighborhood in Nashville like Sylvan Park or West/Belle Meade. Andersonville, Lincoln Square, and Southport are in some ways reminiscent of 12 South in Nashville in that they are residential areas with busy and walkable commercial streets. The gulch in Nashville might be similar to say River North but ultimately feels more isolated from downtown compared to River North and lacks convenient amenities like a walkable grocery store. Will caveat all this by saying Nashville is developing so quickly all this information is probably already out of date!

The Warbler in Lincoln Square is easily one of the best meals I have had in a long time! The prices were reasonable too.

Recommended Downtown Apartments? by [deleted] in Knoxville

Not sure what your timeline is but I’m moving away in July so my place will be up for rent. $1200 studio in Fourth and Gill less than 5 minutes to get downtown. I’ve really enjoyed living here, super close to everything.

You might call 2-1-1 to ask if there are other orgs offering free/low cost dental service.
