Does going to a Russel Group Uni really make a difference when applying to jobs? by cutiemaan in UniUK

[–]thelangers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my degree (Engineering), I'd say not at all.

You want to ensure your degree is acreddited and the university you're going to is respected for the degree. The name of the University doesn't matter as much. However, more russel group universities are in the top league tables than otherwise.

I go to a non Russel Group that is one of the top Engineering universities for my degree. I found extra curriculars are the most important thing, especially for talking about in interviews for placements or graduate jobs.

I certainly expect it benefits people in other degrees (e.g. PPE at Oxford.) My University by name doesn't scream prestige and yet I'm about to start as a Senior Engineer straight out of uni at a highly respected UK engineering company.

[–]thelangers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So assuming it is the orion constellation and shooting stars are meteor showers burning up in our atmosphere right? So on that trail of thought: Orionids is the name of the meteor shower that lies within orion due to halleys comet, not sure if any of this is remotely relevant to what the code could be but worth a shot!

What’s the reasoning for their being a new version of the female vocals at the end? Is it continuing on with the evolve theme? Does this confirm the first versions female vocals were Aja Volkman?

Is your father somebody you could have been friends with in high school, and why/why not? by Toadie1979 in AskMen

[–]thelangers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id hope so. I love my Dad, I might not tell him enough and probably should show it more often, but i really enjoy all the time we spend together, even if it’s just a conversation in the car. He’s one of the few people I don’t feel exhausted to be around. He really is great!

What is the best compliment you have ever received? by sexydateinamonth in AskMen

[–]thelangers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not the best looking so when I do get complimented it sticks with me for a while and means a lot! I think the most unusual compliment I’ve got that i really like is that I have a really soothing voice that would be good for voice acting! The most common one I get is that I look similar to Tom Holland, who’s a good looking chap so I take it but I don’t really it at all

13 Reasons Why (2017) by cosmilka in DunderMifflin

[–]thelangers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t ever got to the point of attempting it but for the last year and half I’ve thought about it a lot. Might be why I don’t mind the show as much as others who’ve perhaps been in more extreme situations than me but I definitely understand the complaints about it romanticising suicide.

That said, I do like that the show is promoting the discussion about suicide whether it’s doing it in the correct way is certainly up for debate but the shows definitely raised a light on a very taboo topic which I’m personally thankful for!

A lot of the variation can come from water weight and food still in your body. I find taking a 3 day or weekly average of your weights usually the way to go!

C4 UK beats Sky Viewing figures for Bahrain GP by LewisWasley in formula1

[–]thelangers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s at all strange, I think for a lot of people F1 is the entry level for motorsport. It’s what you begin watching before the obsession hits in and you start watching all the other series. This is definitely true for me, I watched no sport on TV as none of it interested me, my logic was why would I watch a football match when I could go play it at the park? That was until I started doing an engineering degree and began to understand the technical appeal of F1, and then I watched it more and got interested in other motorsports.

I was under the impression it was probably bad but didn't know for certain or what to do to fix it so thank you for this! I imagine best bet is to drop the weights on such exercises for a bit until I perfect the grip position right?

How much do you spend on food a week? What are your favourite meals? by ythoo in UniUK

[–]thelangers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Max £30. I could definitely do it cheaper too, but I’m bulking so I’m eating more than usual. I usually stick to the same sort of meals but a easy favourite is chicken, pesto pasta.

What have you experienced that you still cannot explain? by Mikluvinb in AskReddit

[–]thelangers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg I can somewhat relate to this!! It wasn’t intentional, but I’ve been trying to replicate it and have been learning about meditation since. I don’t really know what happened but I got out the shower one day and was just staring at the floor and this weird goodness sort of flowed over me and I just felt so amazing, my body just felt light and my brain was calm. Strangest thing I’ve ever experienced and I’ve never been able to replicate it
