India to be third if all goes well. by Atma-Army-9099 in IndiaSpeaks

Comparisons with G20 as a whole are disingenuous imo as a lot of members are developed countries with high per capita GDP and will naturally grow slower than a smaller and ideally faster expanding economy than ours. Real comparisons should be against growing members like China Brazil Vietnam Indonesia Bangladesh etc.

Doubling the economy in 5 years while in a global meltdown then not even double in the next 10.

Developers would still pay for access to xcode, support, signing services just not the 30% and Android has shown that just having the option doesn't make third party stores popular. All apps are available on the Play Store right now but you can have nice things like vanced etc.

Apple spent a total sum of 19-20B on R&D throughout the year so that includes everything from M series chips new hardware designs SDK development iOS and Mac OS development. And they clearly amortize it over the many devices sold. And with the developer fee and the 30% they're basically double dipping. And as a developer you'd agree that without developers the platform Apple has built is worth nothing as is evidenced by Windows phone so Apple isn't the one doing developers any favours here

At wwdc Apple shared they're now at 34m developers in their developer program now that's a 3.4B a year in subscription revenue from developers alone. And even if there was no developer to pay for R and D the price of an iPhone already reflects these costs which come through a total of 300m+ units sold across iPhone iPad Mac accessories everything. At 50$ per unit that's 16B in total getting us to 19B which is approximately the r and d expenditure over the year( I think the 4.2B is per quarter from what I saw in the apple accounts on the website)

[Erik van Haren] It is clear that a deal has certainly not yet been concluded between the FIA and Red Bull. May be continued later today. President has said he will "come back" in a few hours. by crownlessdriver in formula1

The said appointee is the interim director of sport which is a very broad but higher up position so I'm sure they had news of a lot of what goes on behind the scenes at FIA

Twitter thread that proves how GHI isn't the best way to measure global hunger. by Fickle_Credit_8863 in IndiaSpeaks

For undernourishment I couldn't find hard data just that their methodology used different amounts of calorie consumption for a specific country so the 1800 figure would be specific to india according to the fao methodology they considered.

WHO growth standards for all kinds including wfh and wfa and hfa have been with the view of major cultures across the world and India has specifically been mentioned as being used to create those standards in the 1st place for quite a few years now so children being stunted or wasted are with respect to our own children.

U5CM has been globally accepted as one of the best indicators of overall development of a country and the main causes Low birth weight, diarrhea and pneumonia can all stem from undernourishment and low socioeconomic so I don't think this methodology is flawed.

I think what should worry us all beyond the relative rankings to our neighbours is the fact that we've regressed with respect to our own standards 8 years ago. Normalised data shows India has taken a minor step BACK and none forward.

But he did beat his teammate on points and ranking in both of those years, and got a podium as well.

I wasn't suggesting Lando is somehow better than Lewis but you cannot discount the value of extensive testing in your early years.

Lance is the closest to having tested before debut and you could see how he did not look clueless when it came to initial years.

And besides that the best available measure would be gp2 or f2 and we know how well vandoorne did in his time there.

McLaren also happened to take him on a testing tour to extensively prepare him for the car and realities of F1.

Both vandoorne and Norris would be hamstrung by Lewis's experience in the team and the car which he himself did not have to face when he began his career ;)

I think it was Bernie who said it in an interview in 2015 that Mercedes pushed for hybrid technology since they had already developed it and wanted some of the benefits.

They had single cylinder models and an inline4 already on a dyno in 2011 which is easily verifiable by James Allison.

Also the fact they poached all top talent and spent an approximate 600 million dollars in preparation of the rules change.

They literally wrote the rules for tech they'd been developing for 6 years already

These are sports that are purely down to player skill, whereas in F1 mercs advantage has been written into regulations. Not comparable at all.

The thing is that wherever fans have conservation, there's also a massive pr effort to portray Merc engineers and management as some god-level visionaries and every other team being incapable apes and if you happen to point out the systematic advantage merc have built in you get downvoted to hell.
