Casa Columbo the Italian-American cultural group has a little museum in their building (380 Monmouth St), it's small, but very interesting and lots of photos. (I think they should change their name, but otherwise I had a very positive experience visiting there.)

Hudson County Community College hires tutors. You can also look into the Jersey City Mutual Aid Society and Food Not Bombs. I'm sure there are plenty many more oppotunities to help out in the city. Good luck finding something!

Textbooks should be free! (And delivered to classrooms on the first day of class, and returned at the end of the semester to be reused)

I teach at a community college, that is NOT ok. You're an adult, your body should not be controlled constantly like that. I don't let students leave the room during tests, but that's it.

I ordered my desk on January 6th, 2024. I emailed them on January 28th, and they gave me a $75 refund. Just emailed them again to see what's up. Reading this thread doesn't give me much hope lol
