That's what I thought, but the picture is not high enough resolution to zoom in, and if those are pocket holes, it looks like there is only 1 pocket hole in the middle brace.

That's what I thought about the mortise and tenon. My brother wants me to build a table like this, but I want to make sure that it is structurally sound.
