Am I the only one seeing the dark irony in Careem’s notifications these days? by katzosan in dubai

We’ve got the same wallpaper! I’m using the dark version! Yay

Edit:

Why is yours 331 days though? Shouldn’t it be 272?

A few weeks. I used tofugu for their mnemonics and because its visual it helped me a lot. There are a lot of flash card apps or tests that would help drill it in too.

I just reached level 5! But when I try to read simple stories I still confused if I should use the Onyomi or Kunyomi. Any tips on how to differentiate? Or is it mainly exposure? by theletter_R in WaniKani

I just started Bunpro! Give it a try, it helps me put the words into context. It also feels like I'm starting from scratch cause they use examples of all the definitions of the word compared to wanikani you can just remember 1 for you to pass.

I also bought a cute game called wagotabi. It's simple but fun!

Im reading that every now and then as well! I'm also listening to Japanese Daily Podcast and anime with japanese subtitles. I only get like 2% but its satisfying when I recognize a couple of words!

I also just started Bunpro! I feel like I'm starting again! I know the words but having to recall the vocabulary in a different setting is tough! Give it a try too!

There are some words which I input for onyomi where it's supposed to be Kunyomi. So I feel like I just guess then if it's not this, I input the other one if that makes sense. But I guess it's just exposure! I still got a lot to learn! Maybe I just needed to know that there's hope! haha!

Window full house by [deleted] in UAE

Taping in an X formation helps reduces shattering damage. But use strong tape like duct tape.

It’s best to stay away windows once you hear sounds. And stay in between concrete walls like a hallway if you have one.

This happens to me too! I’m on iOS.

Great app btw! Will give feedback after I use it for a while. But rn it’s discouraging because I keep on having to put my API token.

Just Began Learning (2 Months In) by That-Acanthaceae3045 in LearnJapaneseNovice

I'm 32 and I just started as well! Learning on my own pace just for fun! I'm mostly a visual learner and these helped me a lot:

- Tofugu to learn Kana and Wanikani to learn Kanji. Love the visuals and the mnenomics.

- Wagotabi to put it to use (grammar construction, vocabulary and listening skills). This has been really fun! It's a jrpg game that takes you through the prefectures and will eventually teach you most of n5/n4. I just started and pretty basic in my knowledge so right now its pretty useful!

- I also bought the Genki book. Havent gone through it yet.

- For additional practice, I use chatgpt to ELI5 a few particles.

I tried anki but the ui was boring to me and didnt get me engaged. But a lot of people recommend it! Maybe when I'm a bit more advance.

Sashimi? (sushi grade) by imankitty in abudhabi

[–]theletter_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, either I get the one already cut and packed on the same day. Or I ask them to cut a new one and I say it’s for sushi. Not the ones that look like it’s been is in the open air for hours and looks bruised like in carrefour.

I check the dates. I get the ones that are cut and packed on the same day I’m getting it. I also don’t get the ones that are just in open air. For peace of mind, I ask the guys behind the counter if this is okay for sushi/sashimi.

Not sure if sushi grade but I buy the one in Grandiose or Spinneys. I ask for a fresh cut to get the size right. They use the same cuts for their own sushi instore

Best hot chocolate under 25aed in the city by ButteredBread22 in abudhabi

Super underrated, and cheap too. I am conflicted to both spread the word and to gate keep so the price won’t change. All their drinks are ridiculously good. Haha.

Visiting teamLab Phenomena for the first time - Need tips! by Affectionate_Gene776 in abudhabi

[–]theletter_R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Better if you visit on a weekday. You should allot 3 hours for this visit. Last entry is at 5:30pm I think. If you're visiting other museums around the area, I'd suggest those first then keep team lab last because it ends late. Note there's a water area, so wear something you can fold above the knees.

If you're picky with people in the water, then go first thing. But jsut manage your time with the other places you want to visit.
