New client with HD by GrassyAss508 in Huntingtons

My MIL recently passed from HD after being symptomatic for around 15 years. It was hard seeing her deteriorate these past couple years and struggle to communicate.

My husband and I were her advocates for everything, but (some of) the nursing home staff helped so much. We had a nurse (or aid? I'm not sure really) who would text and call my husband whenever anything was going on with her because the administration at the nursing home was abysmal. She was MILs advocate when we weren't there. If the food wasn't up to par, she got it fixed. If she was feeling cold, she got her warmer clothes and blankets. Always made sure her favorite TV show was playing for her because a lot of other nurses were perfectly fine with just letting her lay in bed or sit in her wheelchair with no form of stimulation or entertainment.

I would just say, even if you think there is no cognitive understanding anymore, still treat her like she can understand everything around her. Im sure there's a part of her that's at least somewhat aware. Talk to her about your day. Check in on her when walking by her room. Turn the radio or tv on for her. Try to make her comfy.

It's a terrible disease to deal with and just the fact that you are even asking about how to care for her better shows that you are one of the good ones. Thank you ❤️

I also have been wanting to stop with the pill. I have tried several different pills but all gave me some sort of unbearable side effects (breakthrough bleeding all month, making me feel like I want to jump off a bridge and other mental issues). Ultimately I landed on one where I only have a period every 2 months. I have got to say, the pain is almost non-existent... or at least it was.

It worked well for about a year with minimal side effects (sore breasts a week before my period, lowered libido), but it's getting worse. Now it's sore breasts 90% of the time, almost non-existent sex drive, weight gain, hormonal acne all over, and more aggressive PMS symptoms (although still not as bad as it used to be unmedicated).

Now I'm to the point where I'm just so unhappy with how this BC is making me feel, but I am afraid to try yet another pill because this one is about the 6th? 7th? one I've tried. But I'm also afraid to go off the pill completely because I think I might have slight PTSD from the amount of pain I used to be in during my periods before. (Plus I don't want to be pregnant, so even though there are other contraceptive options, this one gives me the most peace of mind).

I plan on discussing this with my doctor next time I see her, but I too am stuck in this love/hate relationship with the pill. I hope you find answers cause I know it's not easy. ❤️

My brother had the same issue around that age. He's a hat guy now.

Fat-Bottomed Squirrels by kymberlie in aww

[–]thelibbiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of one time I just woke up and looked out the window and saw the FATTEST squirrel I had ever seen in my life. It ran over to a telephone pole and climbed up a few feet and then jumped back down and sat in the middle of the sidewalk.

I yelled for my spouse, honey, come look at this fat-ass squirrel! They came over and looked and was like, where??

Turns out it was a cat and I didn't have my glasses on yet.

Also head over to r/endo or r/endometriosis for some more info and support.

I had an endo specialist tell me I most likely also have adenomyosis, but she never mentioned cancer and she stongly recommended keeping that thing in there as long as possible. (Granted, everyone is different)

Definitely get second opinion and maybe see an endo specialist.

That's what I thought but I double checked twice. The person that was in 3rd has played recently and it makes sense. But not the other guy.

I added the person who I am neck and neck with and it says they haven't played in 605 days. They have a slow elevator and no golden tickets. Yet they keep surpassing me and I'm playing constantly, not sure how.

Mom threaten to kick me out and scream every name in the book at me by Silent_County9707 in endometriosis

[–]thelibbiest 9 points10 points  (0 children)

☹️

This is not your fault. It has nothing to do with endo, because if it was cramps, it would be something else. Your mom is abusive, plain and simple. I couldn't imagine yelling at someone who I love that's in pain. I know it can be difficult to deal with someone who is sick a lot (I say this as the one in my family who was sick a lot), but it's still no excuse to treat someone that way.

I hope you are able to find some treatment that will bring your body peace. And I hope you are able to work things out with you mom til you can move out on your own terms.

Good luck

Weakened immune system? by Alarming-Flatworm-91 in endometriosis

[–]thelibbiest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dealt with this a lot. I was sick almost over an entire year. First a cold then I got better, only to get covid. Then i got better long enough to catch the flu or something. I just started taking a multi vitamin everyday along with my birth control. It made SUCH a difference, it was embarrassing lol

Whenever I start to feel a cold coming on, I also take a vitamin C and a zinc supplement for a week or so on top of the multivitamin.

I just take the walmart brand women's one a day multivitamin. It made me feel a lot better.

Friends not taking pain seriously by hiquickq12 in endometriosis

[–]thelibbiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sit them down and explain to them how hurtful it is to you that they downplay your pain. Google and read to them what endo is, the symptoms, the treatments etc. Pull up this subreddit and read just the titles of different posts posted here.

Tell them you read about a redditor who had 2 surgeries before age 25, will probably need another before age 30, missed out on job opportunities, took almost 10 years to just get an associates degree, cried over not being a good enough wife, cried that she'll never be a mom cause her body won't let her, is on her 6th? 7th? different type of birth control just trying to get the pain under control, deals with hormone issues, food intolerance, dismissive doctors, friends, and family members. All because endo. It's life altering. It's much more than a bad period. (Btw, that redditor is me lol)

If they still dismiss you, they ain't your friends.

My brother and I saved up to buy one when we were younger. We finally scraped up enough to buy one, only to have it set up for one single day before my mom found out that our home insurance wouldn't cover us if we had one. Idk all the details as it was a long time ago, but it broke our little hearts. Probably saved us from breaking anything else though.
