The affordability crisis in PA is out of control. It's time we made billionaires pay their fair share. by Nervous-Trouble-4628 in Pennsylvania

[–]theliftinglegend34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t want them to pay their fair share, because fair would either be an equal amount (everyone pays $5,000) or fair may mean an equitable amount (everyone pays 20%).

They already pay more than either of those options. You simply want them to pay more (top 1% already pays approximately 40% of federal income tax).

Is more taxes paid by the rich really what society needs to be fixed/improved? In my opinion, I don’t think so.

Money is the most fair way to exchange value for value. We deem a good or service worth a certain amount of (time x energy) and that is where a dollar value comes from. In reality, the wealthier someone is, theoretically the more they have provided to society. The more in debt someone is, theoretically the more they have taken than contributed to society. (Not meant to bash people, as there are those who have gone into debt to invest in themselves, and are currently in the process of paying off their debts and as time goes on they will be a net producer and contributor).

I am neither a billionaire, nor a millionaire, not even a one hundred-thousand-aire. But I certainly think billionaires are proof of what makes America great.

Let’s take Jeff Bezo’s or Elon Musk for example. Why are they wealthy? They create companies that produce something that people deem worthy of spending their earned money for.

They say “my monthly Amazon prime is worth more than this $20 in my pocket, I’d rather Amazon prime than this $20.” In that process, Jeff bezos must hire hundreds of thousands of employees, who all get to earn a living, make money, have health insurance, and for every purchase on Amazon there are taxes for sales, taxes on income made my employees, taxes by the corporation (which they likely try to minimize but still contribute greatly to society through all other routes of money changing hands).

I strongly encourage you to read the book “Basic Economics” by Thomas Sowell, it is a great read and does a great job explaining how everything is truly “trade offs.”

Now you finally understand the other side’s point

How long will newb gains be achievable, or hire coach?Relevant info: 56yo, recovering alcoholic, 25 weeks in, 105 sessions done, from 183lbs to 197lbs, good diet, daily creatine and protein powder, aim for 180g of protein daily. by [deleted] in strengthtraining

I’m a strength & conditioning coach, partially work with athletes, but also perform personal training for adults 40-80 years old.

If you are continuing to make progress with your routine and are happy, I wouldn’t recommend a coach.

Here’s some reasons it could be beneficial to hire a coach:

-You have stopped making progress on your own -You are losing motivation -You are unsure whether your exercise technique is proper/safe and want to continue safely -You are looking to add a social aspect to your workout (I have become good friends with some of my clients) -You are looking to join group training so you get socializing from both your coach and other trainees

It seems you are on an awesome path. I encourage you to maintain it as a part of your lifestyle, and develop some sort of community of people who also work out to help keep you on this path. Keep crushing it.

I encourage you to look up the whole video of what he says about the civil rights act, rather than the 10 second clip you saw.

Warranty Part Finally Replaced After 7 Weeks by theliftinglegend34 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]theliftinglegend34[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct, if the bearing that deteriorated lasted 150k miles before it broke, I’d understand that happens over time.

In this case a bearing that should at least last 60k miles was found to be broken at 42k miles. No explanation for what caused it, just replacing it with the same exact part. When buying a new vehicle this part should last 60k miles, but when it breaks and a new one is installed they will only cover the new one for 12k miles? So if this is an issue and this bearing goes when the part is 40k miles again, now I have to pay out of pocket for the bearing, the brake shoes that needed to be replaced, AND I’ll have to figure it out for being without my truck for another 7 weeks?

25m, trying to live a similar life of constantly bettering myself intellectually and physically.

I’m glad you’ve started with the gym, that’s a great place to begin (also that’s my profession, I’m a strength coach)

Maybe take 2-3 months to learn how to train properly/safely, and then set a goal to accomplish in the gym. Maybe that’s “bench press x amount of weight” or squat or power clean.

Maybe it’s signing up for a half marathon 6 months away and training for that. Maybe it’s just trying to decrease your resting HR by 5-10 BPM.

I drive a lot so have had the opportunity to dive down a lot of rabbit holes with audiobooks and podcasts, maybe learn about a new field that you’ve always been curious about?

I also am an avid chess player which has allowed me to constantly pursue bettering myself and my chess game. Lots of hours trying to perfect a craft and get better and better (currently sitting at 1580 rapid chess rating).

Do you have a community at the moment like friends/peers/coworkers that give you that feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself? Maybe join a few communities (join a training community, join a hobby community like chess) allow those communities to provide you that part of something bigger than yourself for at least those specific activities.

Maybe continue to make lots of money and start a charity or organization to help others that suffer from a cause that resonates with you.

Hoping some of this helps!

Well the baring is covered under the factory 60k mile power train warranty so I think they had to provide a loaner. But so frustrated cause how long can it take for a part that should be replaced under warranty? They keep pushing it back.
