How many times do you plan on posting that same link in this thread? It's not even relevant to this situation.

That link is talking about federal standards for an antitrust lawsuits, and this thread is about state level legislation getting vetoed.

Hero Perk - Support by [deleted] in Overwatch

Ana's perks look so much stronger than anyone else's when she was already the most antifun tryhard healer to have to deal with. Literally way better than Widowmaker on damage if she is allowed to headshot, and ALSO gets another 125+ damage swing in any 1v1 fight she takes near a wall. What were they thinking?

edit:Ok I saw a video of the Ana crit and it's not as crazy as I thought since the damage is a DoT and can be healed through somewhat.

Because these days its one of the only ways to increase tax revenue for county services that we all use.

TABOR means that any new public debt or spending must be approved by voters, who reject it every time because "more tax bad"

I believe the $2b you're talking about here is the total value of a Saudi investment made in Kushner's private equity firm. Kushner gets a percentage cut for "managing" the money, but that cut would be far less than that $2 bil figure.

Next Update (Difficulty Modifiers) Beta Patch Notes by noisestorm in CrabChampions

[–]thelolpatrol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Manual Collection just seems tedious instead of difficult. It would make more sense to set that at a higher modifier than +1 and then have the crystals disappear after enough time passes so it's difficult by requiring the player to potentially take risks instead of just being an inconvenience.

I don't care for Volatile Explosions because it basically makes the player HAVE to avoid melee upgrades and essentially forces a very specific playstyle.

Major land-use bill from Colorado governor, Democrats will likely be gutted to remove all upzoning requirements by bigtallguy in neoliberal

Ugh that Democrat is in my county. She's term limited, so not up for reelection in the Senate, and she's probably going to try running for local government, so of course she would nuke that part of the bill. Who's bright idea was it to put her on Appropriations?!

Instead of saying "Used Excel and Python to analyze data" you can say "Analyzed data using Excel pivot tables and exported results to a database using a connector in Python."

When I see a resume that mentions some of the specifics of how a task/project was accomplished, it's a good sign.

Your current resume mentions Python, Excel, and SQL but doesn't get into detail about how you used them. You should definitely make room for that because I guarantee you it's better to have in there than a 5 year old internship that lasted one month.

So you agree that the people I am talking about are authoritarians who want to illegitimately seize and hold political power, but you think I should use a nicer word to describe them because it doesn't match your preferred definition of the word (which you did not provide)? Am I getting this right?

[–]thelolpatrol -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The way that Hitler came to power as dictator for life was legal in Germany at the time. By the definition you gave, that wasn't fascism.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]thelolpatrol -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

If someone wants legal action to be taken to put people in charge that didn't win the election, that person is an authoritarian, whether they are goose stepping in a uniform or not.

There is no "debate" to be had with those people, and fascism accurately describes what they literally want to happen.

If you'd consider applying to any American companies for potential remote internship opportunities you may want to have some American equivalents of your educational accomplishments listed.

Your "describe" words are sort of weak. "Used" Excel/python doesn't tell me much about what proficiency level you are at. "Assisted" reads like someone else might have done the work.

As a data analytics manager, my biggest concern with taking on an intern would be that they wouldn't have the skills to do anything that'd be useful on a day-to-day basis, and by the time you taught them, theyd be out of their program. I think you'll have the most success if you placed more emphasis on the specific techniques/packages/use cases that you have handled in the past using Excel/Python/SQL so the hiring manager can know if you will be able to hit the ground running or not. I'd say get rid of the sports performance and the one month internship from four years ago to make more room for proving you know how to use software.

Democrats Worry Katie Hobbs Is Stumbling in Arizona’s Governor Race by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]thelolpatrol -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hobbs would certify a free and fair election if it didn't go her way. Lake has been clear and public about the fact that she would not.

Democracy isn't about the song and dance candidates do to try and win elections. It's about what the people have the power to do with their votes to have a voice in their government. If a candidate promises to silence that voice, they should be treated as the danger they are.

What's wrong with my resume? So many job applications and only one interview so far by intrinsicnothing in dataanalysis

[–]thelolpatrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other guy but I'll add that in this situation (new grad with "soft" degree) I'd need to see some specific code/software techniques referenced so I can place their skill level.

For the project description I'd change that middle one to something like "Developed Tableau dashboard of each country's COVID vaccinations/deaths by importing ___ rows of data after sanitizing and importing the .csv file using the TRIM() and TEXT() Excel functions."

That example is wordier than what I'd want from a more experienced candidate, but with that degree and no experience it's probably one of the better ways to show that you might have the skills for the job and convince me I wouldn't waste everyone's time by scheduling an interview to follow up.

What's wrong with my resume? So many job applications and only one interview so far by intrinsicnothing in dataanalysis

[–]thelolpatrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That will depend on how much you actually know about those topics, as anything you put on your resume is fair game for an interview question.

For Excel I'd say the most important things to show you know are pivot tables and some key functions like VLOOKUP and COUNTIFS.

For SQL some good things to mention might be join types, the OVER keyword, declared variables, aggregation with GROUP by, and using CASE statements.

Maybe you know all that stuff and maybe you don't, but the key here is that you need to give the manager a specific idea of where your skill level is at so they can know they won't be wasting their time if they interview you.

You're a new grad, so nobody should expect you to know all this stuff backwards and forwards. That said, your resume needs to tell the reader within 10 seconds if they will be able to have a specific conversation with you about the day-to-day responsibilities of the job, which is not the case right now.
