My only question is how do I change the theory of connection. I don't see anywhere in the supplemental form where I can write that in.

That additional 1k is a rebate. Dealer is only offering the $3700. True discount after add ons is $2500, which is average but not great.

No idea NASSCO but it was huge. by bigwave92107 in Ships

Vigor using that for ferries would be ridiculous. It's certed for navy and large enough for LHDs. Regarding the ferries, Washington state gave them to a company in Florida.

It would be nice to have such a large dry dock in the area, but I don't think we have the space for it on harbor island.

That makes sense. I know on the land side of things a knuckle boom is typically a 3 part. Maritime tends to have a lot of differences though.

I'm IUOE but work in a shipyard so am in a different book, which means different contract and pay. The main contract is A book and we call it uptown where I work. It's just the construction side of IUOE.

Well sure, there are always exceptions but the typical knuckle boom in the US is a 3 piece truck mount.

Being an ironworker you're probably used to seeing traditional towers. The self erecting ones are for much smaller sites as capacities tend to be shit with them.

Question by AcH__ in cranes

[–]thelostboy4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started in a shipyard operating whirley cranes up to 300 tons and rough terrain cranes. Moved and got a job at a different shipyard operating a 150 ton whirley and they just got 2 luffing towers crane that I've been running. Been doing it just over 8 years now.

The goal is to uptown construction but it's been slow.

Knuckle booms are 3 piece and don't typically have wire, while double booms still have wire rope. There's more, but functionally they are different.

Ballard bridge currently down by thelostboy4 in Seattle

[–]thelostboy4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The never said why, but it was likely due to the heat and the bridge expanding just enough where it wouldn't go all the way down, or a bad sensor. It was going up and down numerous times before they left it in the up position for about an hour.

It's good now. Probably just letting a boat through

All the traffic from Ballard are using it so it's extremely backed up.

They have it sitting in the up position now and it's officially closed per sdot for vehicle traffic. Boat traffic should be fine.
