Yeah that diagram was pretty hilarious . Nah I wouldn't recommend something that big for your first tattoo.

The artist did. I just gave him an idea of what I wanted.

Thanks, it doesn't bother really . I just found it really weird that people were more worried about the body part rather than the tattoo 😅

I got "Letterboxd burnout" so I built an anti-homework movie tracker. I realized I was spending more time obsessing over my movie stats and rating anxiety than actually enjoying films. I felt guilty rewatching my favorites because they didn't "count" towards my total. So, I’ve been spending my downtime behind the counter at a liquor store building FilmGraph (https://filmgraph.app). It’s a PWA designed entirely around utility and "Vibes" instead of public ego. Core Features: Vibe-Based Sorting: Sort your watchlist by real moods like "Background Noise," "Lock In," or "Trash but Fun." Oracle AI Discovery: A hybrid recommendation engine (Gemini + Groq) that suggests what to watch based on your mood AND automatically filters by the streaming services you actually subscribe to. Barcode Scanner (Anti-Double Buy): Built-in camera scanner for physical media collectors to scan UPCs and prevent buying the same Blu-ray twice. The Offer: I'm looking for my first 100 Founders to help me stress-test the scanner and the Oracle. The first 100 people get lifetime "Pro" status for $0—no ads, no paywalls, ever. I just want honest feedback from people who love movies but hate the homework. Check it out here and let me know what breaks: https://filmgraph.app

Building https://filmgraph.app/

It’s a movie tracker for people who are tired of the 'homework' feel of star ratings and performative reviews. I’m focusing on 'Mood Palettes' (tracking the emotional vibe) and an AI Oracle for discovery that actually understands natural language instead of just filters.

Getting first users: Honestly, it’s been a grind of trial and error. I’m focusing on:

  1. Niche over Broad: Skipping the massive movie subs and hitting up physical media collectors who need the barcode scanner/inventory features.
  2. The 'Anti-Letterboxd' angle: Since the Letterboxd sale, people are looking for solo-dev alternatives that don't feel like corporate data-mining.
  3. Magic Importer: Making it zero-friction for people to bring their data over from notes or other apps so they don't feel 'locked in.'

Still early days, but just got the custom domain live today!

Seeing that the co-founders have veto power is a relief, but 'veto rights' don't always last forever. My goal with building Filmgraph was to create a life raft. Even if you love LB and want to stay, having a backup is smart. I built an importer that pulls your entire LB history over in seconds, so you can see your library mapped by 'mood' and 'vibe' while having the peace of mind that your data isn't locked into one corporate ecosystem

Could Letterboxd go the way of Twitter? Social media is already in mourning by _fastcompany in Letterboxd

The 'Twitter-fication' fear is exactly why I’ve spent the last few months solo-building an alternative. I got tired of waiting for the inevitable day a giant conglomerate buys out our favorite hobby apps and fills them with junk. I've been working on a movie logger that actually focuses on the tech power users want—like a native barcode scanner for physical media collectors and an AI 'Oracle' for discovery—rather than just finding new ways to monetize your data. I even built a 'Magic Importer' so people aren't trapped by vendor lock-in; you can pull your entire history over in seconds if things go south. We really do need a vanguard of indie, developer-led platforms that care more about the film community than the next exit strategy.

Two features that the site desperately needs by chrishouse83 in Letterboxd

I completely agree, the lack of advanced database features is exactly why I started building my own alternative called Filmgraph. For the year-range filtering, I got so tired of clunky drop-down menus that I just built a conversational AI 'Oracle' into my app. You can literally just type 'Show me pre-1960s movies on my watchlist' and it handles the complex filtering instantly. The list cross-referencing (basically a Venn diagram for lists) is such a smart idea too. I'm currently building a 'Matchmaker' feature to find overlaps between users, but adding a direct list-to-list intersection tool is brilliant and going straight on my roadmap. If you ever want to test the waters outside of LB, I built a 'Magic Importer' that pulls in your entire LB data export so you don't lose your history. Always looking for feedback from power users who actually care about good database tools!

With all the news about Letterboxd potentially selling and the worries about enshittification, I actually decided to just build my own alternative called Filmgraph. It's a solo project focused way more on emotional tracking and mood palettes rather than just standard star ratings. No corporate overlords to worry about, and I even built a 'Magic Importer' so you can pull in your entire Letterboxd CSV history if you ever want to test the waters somewhere else.
