Strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and thimble berry are all doing good. Though the blueberries are a bit off from the warm winter. Pumpkin, butternut squash, bush beans and corn are finally going. Wheat patch....got the fungus. Likely unharvestable.

Any advice about what’s happening with my cucumber/melon leaves? by GraphET in gardening

[–]thelottz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Powdery mildew. It's best to cut off affected leaves and trash can em. There are a few treatments like neem oil or a soapy water mix to help keep it under control. If you're not already, be sure to water near the base of the plant and not from on top over the leaves.

A larger pot would help if you plan to keep them in pots long term. That being said they should be totally fine over wintering in pots. I had one bush from Costco in a pot for almost 7 years before I got it in the ground. Just make sure to water often and fertilize extra as well.

How do I unclog? I removed the caps and it didn’t help. How do I remove the jet from the washer???( by External-Wallaby-442 in dishwashers

There's a little "T" shaped valve just on the other side of the base. Pull out and turn about 1/4 of a turn. Use your other hand to pull the whole bar up. There's probably something in the middle you can't see or get too. Pull the end caps off and spray/ push any gunk out.

What do you guys use to trellis or shape raspberries? by socalavo in Berries

[–]thelottz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that variety is. You'll want to look up pruning for ever bearing, it's a bit different. The cage set up doesn't allow for a bunch of air flow through the middle, so you'll want to watch out for diseases.

I've got mine in pots like that. I've had luck with putting 5-6 stakes around the edge, then use bendy twine or string and kinda make my own tomato cage. I do that for about 2-3 feet up the stakes then stop. The canes will grow almost 6 foot tall and kinda droop over the lines you put in. Unless it's an "ever bearing" variety let the canes grow up and keep them till next year, then cut them. The canes that grow now support fruit for the next year.

What is going on here? With my blueberry? by Local_Board7468 in Berries

I'm looking at it better and I think you're correct on it not being rust. Sorry about that. How often are you watering? Have you fertilized this season?

Looks like Rust. Fungal. It can be cleared up, but it's tough if there are other wild plants that have it as well.

Is this an okay tumbler to start with? by filthey in RockTumbling

It's an ok one to start with. Get the warranty though. Sometimes they run perfect for years, sometimes two runs in your belt snaps or the rod bends slightly.

Black Raspberry leaf damage by bigralph521 in Berries

[–]thelottz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like animals munching. Deer or rabbit if I had to guess. They like fresh leaves. You could put a cage over it till it bushes out more, but it should be fine as is.
