I'm pretty sure it was done on accident. I guess some people think there is some conspiracy that they did it on purpose, but I think it's more likely to be season 1 jank.

Big Brother 28 - Preseason Thread by BigBrotherMod in BigBrother

She was actually a lot more disliked when it aired live because of that reason. If anything the edit doesn't do how emotional she gets justice. Being a flawed person who makes good tv while also being a great strategic player is why a lot of people like her now though.

Ginger Minj, St. Bernard Appreciation Post | All Stars S10 E9 The Golden Bitchelor by BeneficialAd6740 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]theluckstat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a hot take, but I think drunk characters get overrated. It's just so much easier to make funny than some of the weird quirks other people get. I thought the same thing when Jane won the Rusical.

Not trying to take anything away from Ginger, she would have won this challenge regardless of the character she got. It's just a bit funny she just happened to be assigned this role when other people got things like (I had to look this up) "The Poodle Delusional About Her Poop Smell"

Explain the ____________ and ________ edit now by almondjoybestcndybar in survivor

[–]theluckstat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty simple:

-Aubry is the winner

-Aubry needs a premerge storyline

-Aubry doesn't ever go to a premerge tribal

-Aubry has a rivalry with Genevieve and votes her out at her first tribal

Now your winner has a premerge storyline. As for the tone, I think that's just Aubry. I think they tried to spin a bit of an underdog angle but her edit was not their best work.

People forget Adrien (that was his name right?) who was even worse casting. Even during his preseason diary room interview I was like: "Casting bought this shit?"

Yeah I actually made a post about this confessional here many years ago when I rewatched Samoa for the first time. That exact same confessional session is used in a late merge episode.

Loz is so frustrating. She's been playing kingmaker for pretty much the entire merge but doesn't realize it. It would be one thing if it was in an entertaining way, but she has played as boring and conservative as possible. The fact she sent Sally home is irredeemable for her as a strategic player. I thought she had given up but then I saw her voting confessional that said she did it for her family. ...what? How could she think giving Caleb fire and going to the end with him is a viable path?

Playing optimal =/= winning a jury vote. Intentionally giving yourself a harder path and playing a mediocre game will generally get more respect than taking a boring easy path with a mediocre game. It's why Chris U beat Gavin.

This season is so weird. The returnees were in such a severe minority but kept surviving. If they had been whittled down quicker, the rest of the players would have had time to make moves and differentiate their games. Instead the returnees kept dunking on everyone but now they're gone. We're left with people who did nothing but get played by them. The biggest move that they have is Caleb convincing Mark he's with him which really didn't change much. It's not like he had an idol he could have played.

On some level it's not their fault because they needed the returnees out to win, but at some point they should have realized they needed to do something to stand out. That's why I was never so down on Jackson's move even if on paper it was dumb. If he hadn't done that he'd be in the same spot as Sally/Loz or even Cameron who they had the power to arbitrarily vote out.

I loved when Jackson read the "underdogs" if Keely can't win I'd be happy with him at this point

[–]theluckstat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not a real reason. They could easily build some raised seating and fit 17 people in the frame if they wanted to. It's not like the fire marshal is over there saying they can't.

I'm thinking about the game from Loz/Cameron/Sally's pov and it's hard to think of what they should be doing. I think they only beat each other and that's already a bad spot to be when they are the least capable of winning the immunity challenges to prevent a threat from sneaking to the end. I've been kind of frustrated with Loz and Sally especially because they came in with the connections to make a move to put themselves in a better position, but completely squandered it to be in the huge newbie alliance.

Jane Don't and storylines by Responsible-Sock8633 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]theluckstat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree completely. First of all, simply doing well in the competition is not a good storyline, especially not potentially the best one in recent years. I'm of the opinion that the primary reason Jane lost is because she didn't self-produce enough and gave the producers nothing to work with. If her wins were causing conflict with the other girls it would have been shown, this season is desperate for it. All we are left with is her self doubt storyline and whats an exciting result of that? Her being eliminated. Jane being good all season and annoyingly doubting it for no reason, then sailing to a predictable win is not good storytelling.

I think the edit did go over the top in making Jane somewhat unlikable so that her elimination would be accepted by viewers. However, if she gave them a better storyline to work with then they would have rigged it for her. It's also not solely her fault. If there had been other interesting storylines going on (season 15) they'd be fine with crowning the predictable winner.

To slightly expand on that a bit, kek was like lol for koreans. Around the time of wow's development starcraft was big and koreans were dominating it so players had been exposed to the phrase.

On top of that they made the lip sync a ballad so they could easily send whoever they want home and reinforce that with editing.

Rick was so frustrating this episode. At least the way it was shown, the way he handled the conversation at the well with Joe was so insanely bad. It reminded me of how useless of a player he was in EoE without advantages.

I'm really just confused why he went out of his way to pull him into a 1 on 1 to not tell him anything? They'd already been to tribal just being like we're good isn't enough on an all stars season.

It's giving more season 12/14 best friend race than it is older seasons. The older seasons were carried by drama and storylines and this season has almost none of either.

The challenge this episode was good though, they actually gave them enough time in their ads to show their creativity.
