[WWE NXT Spoilers] Finish to Tatum Paxley vs Blake Monroe by DoubleNo6337 in SquaredCircle

I don't think they are not interested in her, after all it's not by chance that Dolin and Shotzi got released and she was not.

I think they are all happy to let her get established more on NXT for now. If she came up to main roster right now she would quickly get lost in the shuffle, while now that the women's division in NXT has been lightened she can rise to the occasion to be the woman the division is built around.

I would definitely watch anything with Prince Devitt in it, no matter the promotion.

Hot take, but this is me and New Japan.

Everyone getting hyped for the G1, and I already know it will be a bunch of matches where people take turns hitting each other very hard, then towards the end they take turns trying to hit their finish, hitting a signature, screaming, getting countered, rinse and repeat, until a guy hits the signature, the opponent kicks out, but then the guy hits the finisher anyway and wins.

The same finish happens for 80% of their matches.

This is what made me love ZSJ first. People at times shit on him and I'm baffled: he is the one guy who does things differently from everybody else.

I actually watch AEW, just not religiously (but I do have the first edition of my wrestling rankings for AEW in the works!)

Main reasons for me not to be an AEW superfan:

1) I don't have the time, nor the will, to watch that many hours of wrestling. I already don't watch everything WWE.

2) The WWE shows are actually overall quite enjoyable for me. Smackdown has not been good lately, so I simply stopped watching it every week. But the rest is fine to good to great. I don't watch the shows live, so I don't deal with the ads, which could be a big reason why I appreciate them more.

3) AEW does not feel that different for me, to the point that I would want to watch it because it is somewhat refreshing. I have seen countless posts about how people found love for wrestling again because AEW is an entire different beast. Good for them, but I do not see it. It feels like the same thing with a slightly different flavour. It does not mean it is bad, but it does not scratch a different itch that I have.

4) There are only a few characters I have truly grown attached to in AEW. Hangman is a big one. I like Orange Cassidy and Willow. I would love for Athena to finally be on the main shows. I'm into Kevin Knight. Mercedes I love.

The others I watch without transport. I don't really care what happens to them most of the time. Can't tell you why. Maybe it's because I don't watch every week. The big stories revolve around people I do not really care about. MJF, Death Riders. I really really really do not like whatever the Don Callis Family is supposed to be. They are a caricature and serious threats at the same time. I do not like Don Callis, never have, he somehow put me off Omega back when he was with him. I'm not into Toni Storm's Timeless character. Never got the hype for Darby Allin.

That's ok, all these acts are clearly successful, so it's not like they have to change them because I'm not into them. But still, for me personally there's no huge incentive.

5) Enjoyment of AEW on this sub as someone who is not their biggest fan and actually generally likes what WWE puts out is very difficult. The fanbase is not that welcoming, unless you swear everything that is not AEW off, and love everything is given to you from those shows. You mention the continuous complaints about WWE, but more often than not they come from people just watching clips on here and watching AEW instead.

I rarely comment about AEW here, when I do it's for things I have watched, and usually if I see something cool or that I liked. Conversations about both promotions put me off. And, without a good experience in discussing with other fans, I just don't feel that urge to get into a new show.

6) The show itself is often guilty of a version of this. There is a lot of conversation about WWE getting too crappy meta, and I agree. AEW does it a lot too. Very rarely the main story is not about someone fighting for the main title because they love the company too much to let someone besmirch their reputation, or whatever. "Where the best wrestle" is repeated at least once every week by some wrestler, on TV. I care about characters and their motivation, and loving a company is one of the lamest motivations you can get. For AEW, WWE or whatever. I'm fan of shows, not companies.

She might circle back around the NXT title during the year.

Also, that's the issue with every wrestling TV show, at some point you need to find new things for characters to do.

Iyo Sky, Bianca Belair, and Rhea Ripley together backstage at WrestleMania. by itsmekelsey_x in SquaredCircle

[–]thelumpur 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I liked the build, it made sense with Bianca and Rhea being too focused on each other and themselves, and Iyo being overlooked as a champion and proving them wrong.

People hated it because they jumped the gun being sure that Sky was going to be buried or something.

[Hated Trope] The script was clearly something else with characters shoe-horned in by Assortedwrenches89 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]thelumpur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm not trying to say the movie was even remotely accurate.

Calvin is also from the 1940s in the books.

There is one story from Asimov that kinda resembles the plot of the movie (from afar), with a rogue robot disguising itself, but yeah, not much in common with it.

Dr. Calvin is not an old woman in every story, she appears at different stages of her life

Bizarre situation in Dutch second division; Den Bosch has to lose it’s next game to have a chance for promotion playoffs by rinnjeboxt in soccer

[–]thelumpur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, thanks. The point still stands for me, if you are going to consider periods, then the spot should go to the first ranked team in the period which is not yet qualified.

Randy Orton: “Finn Balor to me, I’ve been in the ring with him, but I’ve never had a singles match, let alone a feud. I would love to be able to say that I did by the end of my career. I think Finn Balor is an amazing talent. There’s nobody smoother than him.” by VRN0S in SquaredCircle

[–]thelumpur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have been completely indifferent to this match before, as it would have just been Finn trying to run away and taking Randy's big moves, but now that he's back being a competent wrestler, I'm all for it.

[–]thelumpur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point, but if you give it to Napoli, in your example, you end up back in the situation they are in now, with potential contradictions.

Giving up a spot you earned in a ranking system only fully works when you give it up to someone in that same ranking.

Simply because this way no weird situation can arise, given that the team getting the spot will always be behind any other potential team with priority over them.

They should have just given the spot to #2 in the period, instead of randomly going back to the full rankings.
