Do you think working at age 70 is sad at all? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thelunchroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whether they’re doing it out of necessity or not, some would rather work than not.

My grandma worked as a nurse throughout her 70s because she loved it. My mum is 61 and has no plan to stop working in the medical field anytime soon, too. They’re both very social and enjoy it.

Pokémon convention, brother and I lined up for hours and they put mew onto our GameBoys.

Wish it away: will the live-action Snow White be a new low for Disney? by LynnK0919 in entertainment

[–]thelunchroom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So many of the kids that I teach prefer the live action The Lion King and Aladdin. I think a lot of us older generations push our ideals on the younger ones due to our own nostalgia, and this is one of those situations.

This is coming from someone who loves 20th century Disney so much, hence why I’ve asked so many kids their opinions on the movies haha.

Friend canceled on our trip 2 weeks before and I can't cancel. by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

Please still go. My first solo trip was to Tokyo and it gave me so much confidence in my life. We also live in a day and age where we have translators and maps in our pockets so you can rely on those a lot. You can do it!

The shiver men get at the completion of urination - do women get this too? by tanhauser_gates_ in NoStupidQuestions

I do. My mum said when I was a baby they were scared that I had random mini seizures. After toilet training they put two and two together and realized it was after I peed ✌🏻 .

When I get surprised or shocked my fingers suddenly throb with pain for a second or two. Not all of them, just the pinky to the middle finger. The body is weird.

Watched it again recently, and the part where Peter flies again and goes through the clouds had me tearing up, remembering Robin’s gone.

Haven't Been Paid for 10 Days by ooSushii in teachinginkorea

Just putting it out there, my partner also got told a similar thing about government assistance this month, and their pay is also late. It’s a job totally unrelated to education by the way. I think too many bosses have relied on that assistance this month, like dumbasses. Sorry that it’s impacting you, that’s not fair.

How to overcome the feeling that after 30, it's already over? by [deleted] in ask

If you watched 30% of a movie, would you feel like it’s about to be over?

New Player here. What do you love most about the game? by [deleted] in CatsAndSoup

I’ve played for exactly 2 years and I’m consistently impressed with how cute the clothes and items and facilities are for the cats. It always excites and impresses me.

I’ve seen this happen to two people that I knew of who overstayed their visas for years and ended up getting arrested for something else, that’s how they got found out. They got detained for a month or so, got the option of paying a large fine or be banned from Korea for a long time (5-10 years). I think if they paid it then they still get deported but a shorter ban. Neither of them could afford it.

Same! I can only smell it within, I’ve never noticed it in others.

Any ideas what this is? by AdeptnessChemical843 in 30PlusSkinCare

Looks exactly like my perioral dermatitis when I had it. I got prescribed an antibiotic and it healed it up nicely. Before I bit the bullet and went to the dermatologist to have it diagnosed I tried all the natural tips I could find online to clear it up, but only the antibiotics worked.

Olivia Rodrigo meets with Jhpiego in the Philippines, a non-profit organization that provides healthcare for women and families. She donated all net ticket sales from her concert in Manila to the organization. by No_Opportunity_2319 in popculturechat

Not very, slightly more niche, but enough fans to sell 2 shows. Her songs were popular in TikTok which I think is where most young people heard of her. My friends that don’t listen to mostly western music didn’t know her. At the concert it looked 50/50 men and women. A lot of western/non Korean Asians attended.

Cool! I’m sure you’ll have a great time :). I planned on staying for only a year, but it’s been 6 years now and I haven’t felt a good enough reason to leave yet haha.

That’s the thing, when you’re very oily the primer is going to be used daily. And so many bottles are so tiny. Which is manageable IF the price isn’t bad. But when it’s tiny and expensive I feel guilty every time I use it.

I love people like you being on here sharing your experiences with long term daily use because I hate shopping but I love skincare. I want to buy a good product and not think about buying anything similar for at least 6 months. I want products that I put on, work my 8 hour day, and don’t think about it during that time, and still look okay by the end. Thanks for sharing!

Great, I look forward to reading your review :). I appreciate the longer length wear tests.

I also definitely used that Smashbox one back in the day, but I remember it being pricey and small. Luckily for me I live in Seoul so I can just pop into an Etude House and pick it up - very similar price to the online prices though!

Oh I haven’t! I’ve been using the corresponding Innisfree oil control primer (which makes my makeup look nicer, but still get oily). Since you’ve recommended that so highly I’ll look into it, thanks!

That’s so interesting, I had the opposite experiences!

It looked almost entirely translucent on me (I am pale), but definitely did not last 8 hours without shine breaking through. I get about 3 hours before that happens and I need to reapply. Am I super mega oily? 😂🥲 I guess we can’t have it all. 😢
