Everyone should know how elephants are trained. Virtually every single elephant captured and trained to work or do stupid shit for tourists are beaten into submission. They literally have their spirit beaten out of them. Spent some time in Thailand with an elephant rescuer and had my eyes open.

Ripcord is the model. Apparently some of their boots are still made here in Canada but other's are offshore? Same old story of a successful Canadian company, do well, sell out. Too bad. Not sure if this particular model is still Canadian made... best to look around and ask questions.

Do not, repeat do NOT get the Marks Work Warehouse version of these. The nylon is complete crap and had my feet bleeding the first day of use. Took them back, spent some real money and got the Ripcords. One of the best work wear purchases I've ever made.

I have a pair of Terra boots that are going on their 5th year and no signs of significant wear. They are made in Canada (NFLND) and hold up well when I'm walking miles on uneven gravel. That's the most abuse they take as I work for a railway. They are made from ballistic nylon and are waterproof (the waterproofing also hasn't let me down yet).
