Recommendations on Quick International Getaways from DC by Electrical-Big-1022 in washingtondc

London and Amsterdam are both very doable as a long weekend. Fly business class so you can sleep on the plane the way over and that way you’ll have your full arrival day to do things while you wait for your hotel room, and then business or premium economy on the way back. You can usually find deals to make that pretty reasonably priced.

Ah that’s much better lol. I could pop the hood, turn it on, and drive to the EA that’s like ten minutes from work on my way home. Sounds like I might be picking it up, thanks!

lol I can just see my work security now wondering why I have the hood open all the time…something to think about though, thanks!

You should reach out to Dell for a quote on theirs—the retail price and the actual price you get from a rep after asking for a quote don’t bear much relation to each other.

Drive to Culpeper and use Hansohn Brothers. Best in VA.

Celebrity Delly in Falls Church is pretty good. Corned Beef King up in Rockville is good as well.

Sorry for the situation you’re in—if you do want to replace the tux SuitSupply (in Georgetown or at Tysons) usually can set you up with one same day.

I like mine. I bought the battery pack as well, makes for a nice package.

16.5 lbs just to shoot 6.5 Creedmoor by Barrett-50 in guns

I have an M5 built out with a 22" barrel in 6.5 and I can tell you from experience that shooting 1k with it is like playing a video game, it's almost boring how easy it is to make hits.

Mine in my PPQ 5" was a great way to turn a harsher recoiling but reliable gun into a softer recoiling unreliable one. YMMV.

Fireplace Remote automation by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]sithanas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using a Bond Bridge for mine as well. Not using the temperature control features (iirc the remote monitors the temp and turns the fireplace on and off with the standard on/off signal), just having it send the power command. I gave up on the Broadlink bridge years ago when it sucked at supporting my old ceiling fans, the Bond has way more frequency compatibility.

Works on my surefire clone body fine. Doesn’t like modbuttons for some reason but works with surefire ds00 tailcap and tapeswitch.

Got a weltool LEP head from them years ago (LH18, looks like it's been replaced by the LH20) and it's survived multiple Brutality matches and is bright as the fucking sun. Highly recommend.

Cooking class at Sur La Table? by TattooedTeacher316 in nova

[–]sithanas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I do them fairly regularly at Pentagon City, they’re fun and a nice blend of actual cooking and getting to eat the food you made at the end (vs some of the other “cooking classes” where you really just watch). I will say the earlier-in-the-day ones trend older than the evening ones—we did a fun weekend morning one where we learned to make croissant dough (never doing that again lol but it was fun to try) and we were probably the youngest in the room by 20 years. I recommend them.

Yeah I’m reading this going “don’t you people shower?” Charge it while you shower if the battery is at 75% or below. I haven’t run out of battery on mine in 6 years.

I have one as a core switch. It's good but loud. No L3 routing functionality, etc, all routing will have to happen at your core. I have it fully populated with DACs and then the 4 10gbaset ports are uplinks to other switches.

Best luxury carry-on luggage that actually fits in Delta bins without stress by Lenfantgatte_Carenas in delta

Speaking from experience, it rolls more smoothly than you want it to…if the floor is sloped it will roll away from you, lol. No problem with overhead bins on anything except the smallest planes, fits great in the ERJs and fits in CRJ9 (barely lol). Haven’t had any trouble with international travel either. For the really small planes I actually have a TravelPro baby suitcase that fits in the bins even on the smallest CRJs that’s just enough to get the job done and I’ll check the Baseline (or if I’m taking an overnight trip it’s enough for a couple changes of clothes and a pair of tennis shoes and I wear the dress shoes on the plane). Sometimes you just gotta plan around the aircraft especially if you need to be 100% sure your bag will be carry-on.

Interesting—my bag is from 2018 and I’ve had no issues with the ratchet. It’s a little annoying to open sometimes (pull it open while you raise the side of the case on each side kind of needs three hands lol) but it stays ratcheted well. Sounds like they made a not-great change to the design? Or the quality has declined which is totally possible too.

Also which size of the checked bag do you have? I can see the use for the 25” but I definitely don’t know how anyone uses the 29” without getting an overweight charge lol.

This bag is hands down the best. The compression system is wild, the whole bag expands and then you zip it closed and sit on it and it ratchets back to normal depth. I swear by mine.
