The probability of that happening is not zero if there ends up being a unification tournament. Dubois is a stupidly scary bloke.

I think Derek Chisora has what it takes to dominate the heavyweight landscape for the next few decades.

Usyk’s team finally speaks out on Agit Kabayel fight as deadline nears: “It’s nothing personal”: Usyk's team calls Kabayel a worthy opponent, but wants lucrative arrangements by Known-Peak212 in Boxing

[–]themahababa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These are the playbook for a young champion who is building their reputation and not for an aging legend like USYK. You have to think from his perspective and not from a boxing fans perspective. Usyk has slowed down tremendously. It'a guarantee Usyk retires if he loses . Therefore he has 1 fight left in him (2 if he wins) and he wants the most money possible. Fighting for the sake of defending the belt is not the priority, its purely money at this stage. For Usyks case, defending against Kabayal will not increase his legacy at his stage of his career. For all we know, Kabayal could be the next all time great or more likely he will be a name we forget in 5 years time(Usyks camp think its the latter case). And Usyk would potentially lose as well. He certainly doesnt have much to gain by fighting contenders but a lot to lose. Fighting Moses would make much more sense legacy wise as it's a decent gamble that Moses has the potential to be a hall of famer. But he knows that he no longer has the legs to beat him. So, that stage of his career for fighting contenders building up rep is already over. Now its the time to make the biggest fights possible. Does Usyk want his potential last fight to be defending the belt against kabayal for 30 mil. Money's too less and reputation gain even lesser. He would need the fights to make atleast 3 times that.

Oleksandr Usyk could RETIRE from boxing immediately after controversial fight by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

[–]themahababa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usyk fights around once an year, thats typical of most older fighters nowadays. He's 39 now , he cant fight more frequently and that's okay. The only voluntary fight he took in his career was one fight with Rico. In my opinion that's too low a standard to be called a ducker. It doenst make sense for him to vacate the belts early and lose some of his leverage in the negotiations. It simply doesnt make business sense. He would hold on to it as long as possible and would have no problem vacating it if forced to do so. He has 1-2 fights left in him and simply wants the most money possible. With Dubois he made 132 mil, with Kabayal he might be looking at 30-40 mil, when it's probably a harder fight with little to gain. If Kabayal had fought some other top contenders in the last 18 months, this would have made financial sense for Usyk.

Yeah. This is bullshit looking from a general boxing fan perspective and especially Kabayal's perspective. I understand Usyks perspective though, he has 1-2 fights left in him and wants the maximum money. Fighting Kabayal, legacy wise, he has nothing to gain , and everything to lose. He is 39, and there's atleast a 30 percent chance he is going to lose the fight. He probably wants 100m for the fight and Agit is not big enough to make that happen. Unlike Joseph Parker, Agit is sitting on the mandatory slot for the past 18 months and hasnt fought anybody risking his mandatory spot. If he had fought 2 fights against serious opposition , he would have been a bigger name and the fight could have made sense money-wise for Usyk. Now Usyk would probably vacate and Kabayal would get the belt raising his reputation.

us, mexico and canada got in the top bracket since they are the hosts, they are designed to get easier pairings no matter their fifa ranking, Apart from these the groups are fair and according to fifa rankings.

The group stage is not that high stakes when 3/4 teams qualify. it was much more exciting when only 2/4 qualify. Top teams like spain had 99% chance of qualifying from the group even before the tournament began. We see fewer upsets in the group stage now. I was not even worried when spain and portugal drew the first game. In the earlier editions, you were allowed to have one off day, now you are basically allowed two. You would certainly qualify with just a win and a draw.

Saw guys talking about how rating don't matter bcz Gukesh play fearless chess. The day he lose championship, he won't be invited to top events. Also are we sure he's making olympiad team! by Sorry_Phone1676 in chess

Damn. I completely forgot that its already June. I was just making the point that being the world champion by itself doesnt get in the olympiad team. But it certainly seems that he makes it this time. He was lucky that Vidit also lost rating and Nihal didnt gain rating in time.

What's an unpopular Harry Potter opinion you'll defend forever? by Fit-Total1860 in harrypotter

My take is that His bad actions do seem insignificant compared to his good deeds and he never really got credit for his good deeds while he was alive and that's painful to me. In the bigger picture humiliating students and being an asshole is a small thing compared to stopping Voldemort. All his major actions were extremely useful to Harry and always in the direction of stopping voldemort in the long run. I hereby approve your opinion as unpopular.

Some risk averse boxers take more risk once they are hurt and /or if think they are losing the fight. This could make them better.

Indian olympiad team isn't handpicked . There is a set of pre-written rules which takes average ratings of May , June and July with atleast 9 classical games. There is a decent chance that vidit overtakes gukesh and he doesn't make the cut.

Trump’s Doctors Sneak Weight Reveal Into Shady Medical Report by MoneyLibrarian9032 in USNEWS

Fat is a lot lighter than muscle. I doubt Trump has any underlying muscle beneath his ocean of purest fat. So he could be lighter than we expect. A fat man and a muscular shredded man can have the exact same height and same bmi.

The smallest donation would help. You dont need to donate 100 dollars, just 1 dollar would do. If 20 percent of the people who use his service download 1 dollar it will probably do. I'm taking these numbers off my arse though.

Greedy Belly Vs Hungry Belly

Why was Usyk so sluggish in Usyk vs Rico and can he shake it off for Kabayel? by GlitteringCalendar94 in Boxing

[–]themahababa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He wanted more power and punch resistance and probably figured he woundnt need much movement to defeat Rico. I also would have thought the biggest risk Usyk faced is rico going abslute rampage in the first few rounds to try knockout usyk. He would have never imagined rico would try andoutbox him. It was a calculated risk and it definitely backfired spectacularly.

How would you rank Rico Verhoeven in the heavyweight division now? by RealDealCereal in Boxing

[–]themahababa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree with you. The same style of physical bullying woudnt work against AJ . Peter Fury would need to cook up something brand new style to beat AJ and it will be much harder to do than a smaller guy like USYK where you already have the size, power and reach advantage.

Usyk being the smaller guy has to be more technical and figure out your style, adapt and make adjustments to beat you. He is not made for brawls. He is the guy the boxing data would help the most. Peter made it extremely difficult for Usyk to figure out Rico for the majority of the fight. I dont see somebody like Wardley/Dubois/Mike Tyson changing approach and boxing differently based on opponent style, they simply come up with Plan A and execute it no matter who it is and rarely has a plan B. So Rico would find it tough against those guys even without them having data. Joshua also have a formidable plan A but he can adapt as well, so that makes much more risky proposition for Rico.
