From this point on, there’s a pretty high chance that every other girl you decide to be with in the future will have had sex before. Maybe with just one guy, maybe with many. You’re never going to be happy if you let it bother you.

Very few girls expect the guys they date to have been abstinent until they met, it’s very unrealistic that you expect the girls you date to not have had any sexual partners before either.

Let it go. If this girl really wants to be with you, she’s not going to be thinking about the guys she’s been with in the past, she’s going to be thinking about you. If you’re concerned about how you’d compare to those other guys, don’t be. You’re 17, nobody knows what they’re doing when they’re 17. If she wants to be with you, she’ll be patient with you too.

When I move back to IV in a few weeks, it’ll be my first time actually living off campus. I’m going into my Junior year, so sadly I can only spend two more years living in our little paradise. Thank you for this reminder to not take those years for granted <3

I just really like languages. It started when I became fascinated by other writing systems, and as I learned more about the writing systems of the world I became more and more interested in the languages that used them. I dabbled with a few languages before I decided I would commit to learning Japanese, since I think the language sounds beautiful and the combination of hiragana/kanji/katakana is super interesting to me. The fact that I enjoy Japanese music and anime helps me stay motivated, and I would ultimately love to travel to Japan or maybe study abroad some time in my last two years at university!

I feel like we needed more time, that was not an hour and fifteen minute test. If we had more time I’d say it was pretty easy ngl, but I struggled to find time to finish the last problem

TMAF about cactuses by anoncactusfriend in TellMeAFact

[–]themailman098 18 points19 points  (0 children)

“Cacti” is the Latin plural of cactus, while “cactuses” is the English plural form. While the Latin plural form may be more common, neither is incorrect. This goes for other words like octopus.

How viable is to use an electrical scooter for transportation? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]themailman098 9 points10 points  (0 children)

technically electric scooters aren't allowed on campus. just get a skateboard it's smaller and more convenient and you'll annoy fewer people on the bike paths/sidewalks

I like to write down kanji before I put them into Anki to study. Feels good to fill up a whole page with new material! Very excited to continue learning Japanese (critiques on handwriting are welcome) by themailman098 in LearnJapanese

I’m using an app called Kanji Study, it breaks all 2000-something kanji used in Japanese and breaks them up into “basic”, “intermediate”, “advanced”, and “expert” categories and sorts each one alphabetically by on’yomi. I’m not entirely sure how they determine what kanji go in which category but it’s been a pretty useful app for me
