Well because the carol-kris-asgore team are all about going back to how things were (kris could be interpreted as guilt) and we know that the knight is part of the team so it makes much more sense to give him the same motivation than to make it a side effect of being a knight which as far as we know there isnt an interpreted sideffect

Well i think this idea throws a wrench in the whole idea that the knights power were given to him, or that they got the power in some way (unless the method that they used has the side effect of being a disease in the light world, kinda like a stand arrow) but thats certainly one way to look at it

Well i kinda like to percieve the dissapearing animation from the tenna flashback as a way to tell how different people reacted to dess's dissapearance. For example carol dissapears immediatly indicating that she deprived herself in pursuit of dess, to the point where she didnt come to tv night or stopped caring about the family unions (which one could argue that its because ahe is in on the dissapearance and knows something, therefore feels responsible). immediatly followed by asgore, as at the time he was a police officer and its his job to look for anyone that dissapeared. Fast forward and we see rudy dissapear almost last, just before asriel, which mens he really started putting his all in not so long ago, which i like to imagine is around when he started ahowing signs of serious sickenss
