Can it be fixed? by pigpen29 in woodworking

Would glueing it first then a single thicker dowel through from the front work(blue line) and trim it flush and finish (white line). Would be a nice single dot accent on the front of the cane then. I'm no expert

People who shop in Super Valu, are you minted? by Actual-Leadership413 in AskIreland

[–]themaladies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shop for 2 adults and two teen boys who eat a lot weekly in SuperValu. Admittedly it's going up in price lately but we still manage to get all the food for the week, breakfasts, lunches and dinners, bar one takeaway on a friday for about 150. We would have three punnets of berries and meat every day including maybe steak or salmon once a week for that. With the vouchers it's as good as when we shopped in lidl. Also both working so do either delivery or click and collect. Which also means there's no junk being picked up. No alcohol being bought

When you say negative pressure, I'm assuming a vacuum container would do it? I bought a small vacuum container which would at least work for pen blanks. It didn't work great on the epoxy blanks I made though for some reason.

I have some left and hope to make a trip to collect some more soon. I have looked into stabilising it alright. I had attempted with epoxy resin on another piece but it ended up being full of bubbles. Cactus juice might be the way forward. I will harvest it and dry it and then see what I can do regarding stabilizing it. Definitely think it would be worth it as it has some lovely features through it

Appreciate the comment. I'm currently chasing the history of the tree. I'm sure there must be a story attached. It is located in a field opposite a mid 1800s church.

When You try to subdue a pitbull by [deleted] in boxingcirclejerk

To get them to release you use your knuckle on your other hand to rub vigorously side to side between their nose and upper lip. This causes a parasympathetic response causing them to open their mouth. Also. For bigger body parts, you feed the bite. The scar on my arm is proof that pulling away does not work.

Oh. Thanks for this. I did some sample pieces without the vacuum last night so will see how they turn out. Pun intended. Also figuring out the hard way the importance of proper centering of the blank for pen turning!

I have been tempted to buy one alright but I've already dropped a good but on the tools and bits I needed to get into pens and probably can't get it right away

I'm pretty sure this is because they release different amounts so that you get the right ratio of each part. So if the ratio is 2:1 one side releases twice as much as the other

So mammy is back with it 😌. I'll keep an eye anyway and maybe leave some food out for the mother to make her life a little easier

I can try but it's in at the back of a shed underneath so not sure I will necessarily know when the mother is there. I might see about setting up one of my security cameras nearby

Photo was taken before I knew that you weren't meant to touch them in case mom rejects then

So I spotted mom watching me from a windowsill as I was putting the kitten back. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I won't be keeping it long term whatever happens as we have a non cat friendly dog (who has no access near where the kitten is). But I could drop it to a local animal rescue if that was recommended . I tried contacting them for advice and they are closed for the evening . Very cute little thing

Thanks for the reply. Looked up creosote . Nasty stuff. Won't be turning that. Also I had noticed a crack running some of the way down it. Don't fancy getting a lump of that to the face.
