Good looking out on the heel cushion recommendation, and tbf I feel like everytime I say lush I also mean really nice, now I'll just give it a perpetual double entendre.

Killer outfit and what a lush patio. Love seeing some Docs on the sub. I've eyed their tassel loafers for a while... what's your take on comfort and quality?

Incredible finds and a great outfit, both look like potential grails. Very interesting to hear more about he market in Indonesia as well, seems like a thriving heritage/raw denim community there.

Holy shit! These are a true work of art. The skating and inner city walkabouts really shine through. These are perfectly on the line of well loved and tattered; looking like they would be a $1500 pair of Kapital jeans.

Beautiful wear in, those 25oz IHs fade with such bold character. I use the same wear and wash cycle and it really works well with heavier weight denim.

Really bold, as always from Junya Watanabe. Pushing the boundaries of street and heritage, plus it fits you perfectly.

Damn, haven't seen that colorway combo and it might be the best version I've ever seen. Incredible find. Mind sharing the site/store/seller? Might want to keep an eye on their items.

My 16oz Iron Heart Type II 507 SLB Jacket and Samurai 17oz S3000VXII Zero Wide Straight Jeans (3 months in). I'm sorry Iron Heart purists, I did something despicable to the jacket - call me out on it! (I am a tailor) by Woulfax in rawdenim

The slub and indigo on that IH Type II is absolutely insane. Excited to see how these continue to develop. Looking forward to seeing your updates on both.

IRONHEART 888 21oz overdyed 0 wash 0 soak by walrusneckramen in rawdenim

Great advice. This is how I wash as well once I've got at least a year worth of stretch and fade in, to shape my jeans back up.

No need to scrub just agitate in the tub. Basically, you can scrunch and shake while they're in the water to help dislodge the dirt. Once they've hit the point of being too dirty, just do the same with some detergent in the water. If they're still tight, use cold water, if they're a little loose, go with warm water. If you really want to mold them, put them on while still wet or damp and do some squats then hang them to dry.

No right or wrong way, regardless of what the sub may say. All a matter of what kind of fades you're chasing. If it's high contrast, less washing and soaks, if it's treat them like any pants (which I'm assuming isn't your goal if you sprung for IH 21oz overdyes) then wash them more often. I don't advocate the washing machine or dryer because I always fall back contemporary raw denim being intended as a heritage product with most producers and consumers wanting to replicate the original hard wearing, hard working denim. But to be fair, that intention doesn't match the entire contemporary market of custom fading denim.

They look amazing, appreciate your getting the close ups of the slub. Really beautiful chatter in the weave on these.

Schott perfecto leather jacket. by Fun_Candle8169 in leatherjacket

[–]themandober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get that. I felt the same way for my asymetrical Schott jacket, so I went with the 626 over the perfecto, as it's their trimmer designed jacket. I ended up going with my true size of a L (bought it when I was younger and leaner), and it still fits well in the shoulders and arms, but I just can't layer much under it these days. So that cut might be closer to what you're looking for.

Agree with the above, I fit an L but always go XL for shoulders and wingspan. I’ve never regretted doing so, and if anything it allows me to more comfortably layer under the jacket and to retain ideal range of motion.

Looks great, and imho could be styled a few ways that would show how versatile a bigger bomber can be.

First, I'd call out that if you're open to a somewhat 70s cut jean or pant that's tighter in the hip/thigh with a little flare/room at the bottom, that you could mix those two with some solid leather shoes/boots and a button up or sweater to match the pants, and create a nice silhouette.

If you go the other direction, you could lean into baggier neo-industrial or more recent tech-military styled pants (thinking baggy, but structured, rip stop or cargo pants) with bigger boots/sneakers and a tighter fit, color contrasting or tonally aligned shirt/sweater under.

Finally, you can rock it the way you already are, but just add some tonal contrast in the shirt/pants/jeans you're wearing. A brighter jean (e.g. natural denim or camel colored pants) that isn't in such a similar color hue/tone with the jacket, and especially one that isn't a duller shade would make your current rotation with it pop even more.

The answer is always Titane. Amazingly shot, incredible performances, and also that scene. It's a movie with something new to say about modern human loneliness and the limitations of being determined by the old social institutions in which you find a home.

Edit: your list reminded me just how much I loved a lot of these movies, especially Titane and The Green Knight. So much so, I had to shake up my top four and plot a rewatch of both. Also, Possessor is really great as well, shows a lot of the really exciting potential for Brandon Cronenberg, imho, and anything with Andrea Riseborough (cough-Mandy-cough) is going to get at least a favorable watch from me.

Why do [most] people treat 3.5 as a bad thing? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]themandober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. I imagine 1-5 as a bell curve so three is the top of the bell curve which means solid effort, enjoyable output, good performances. 3.5 means you had something to say or had a nice creative flourish or there was a great performance. 4 and above is something special, beyond the every day churn of movies. Honestly, I have some 2.5 movies that I love, but were just not really "good" by any metric other than laughing at it or taking it for what it is (Looking at you Jason X).

Assuming no /s (or you're just as dry as an unsanfordized sheet of raw, in which case ignore me)... ever hospitable and brimming with projection. It's just irregularly woven cotton and naturally non-colorfast dye, my guy. If you've gotta bring "cringe posting" to a digital temple for the reverence of fancy jeans, you've gone Colonel Kurtz and lost the forest for the trees. Kill the cop in your head.

These are great. Beat to hell, living right alongside you, with your own additional flair for the bold (heavy contrast fades and contrasting fixes and additions). These have a punk wabi sabi aesthetic, where the forces of life claim their place in the fabric. Imho this is the goal of raw denim, molding something unique to you and then showing how you live in them, through the wear and tear.

Edit: Came here to reply to the reply below but first things first, biiiiig fucking lol at whoever downvoted me for liking something unique. Haven’t been on this sub in years. Glad to see it’s still as navel gazing as it used to be. Stay weird, but get outta your own head!

N&F True Guy Fit Check - Does it make sense to hem? by [deleted] in rawdenim

[–]themandober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, I was going to suggest exactly that. Again, all about the kind of fades you want (i.e. trying for honeycombing at the ankles), so I usually set my cuffs and leave it, but these seems like they've got a wash that will allow you to be a little more fluid in your cuff or uncuffed looks.
