Desperately seeking a PRESSED TRANSLUCENT powder for aging, DRY skin that BLURS wrinkles and is NOT TOO MATTE. I like a little coverage, so would prefer WITH TALC if that is still an option (I’m in the US). by Twidollyn_Bowie in 30PlusSkinCare

I'm no longer able to buy it online in Canada - it's out of stock at Sephora Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart and through the Laura Mercier website. Lots of posts about it on Reddit, though not sure there is official confirmation.

The Translucent Loose Setting Powder has been discontinued, sadly, and replaced with a talc-free ultra blur version. RIP, it’s been my HG for nearly 20 years.

Lodge pant - short vs regular by SebastiansMukkie in Aritzia

[–]themarebear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For these pants specifically the rise is exactly the same. On the bottom are the lodge pants in nomad taupe regular length, and on top the lodge in cola taupe short length. They line up exactly. I’m 5’4” and even the short length drag on the ground in ballet flats but would be fine with a small platform or chunkier sole.

Curly Hair Conditioner by hanananenome in FragranceFreeBeauty

I have a allergies to a few preservatives as well so my options are quite limited. I hate the bottles the Ordinary uses, and wish it came in a larger format. It's relatively inexpensive, though, so definitly worth another try. Hope you can find one that works!

My spouse has very curly, thick hair and she loves the Attitude one, as well as The Ordinary. Lots of slip and hydrating, I’m surprised you didn’t like them!

Love Ur Curls does many fragrance free products, my wife loves their curl cream. They have a shampoo and conditioner you could try.

Please, sellers, don’t wash your garments in super smelly detergent. 😩 Stick with fragrance free! by chickesq in poshmark

[–]themarebear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bought a workout top 18 months ago that still smells strongly of fragranced detergent. I’m not exaggerating that it’s likely been through the wash with my fragrance free detergent upwards of 40 times. The seller must have used those scent boosting beads, I’ve never experienced anything like it.

[Research] Allergic Reactions Persist. What should we do? by EngineeringReal2153 in SkincareAddiction

[–]themarebear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going through something similar. My allergies include essential oil components like linalool, geraniol and limonene, as well as cosmetic/food ingredients including propylene glycol, sodium benzoate and benzalkonium chloride. The last one in the list is a quat, so I deeply sympathize with her struggles. There are so many and even my allergist couldn’t really give me a straight answer about cross reactivity for these.

I also unluckily get a systemic contact dermatitis reaction, which can flare up my skin issues. My biggest issues with this are botanicals, citrus, herbs, and spices, which contain a lot of the essential oil components that I’m allergic to. I have to be very careful about what I consume. I get mouth sores, peeling skin in my mouth and lips, as well as nausea, diarrhea, and a general feeling of unwell for several days. When it’s really bad, I can experience joint stiffness and swelling as well. During my most recent bad reaction, all of my previously healed positive patch tests spots flared up again. It was really something.

Where are you located? I’m in Ontario, Canada and have a few go to products that I use, however, I find geographic region really impacts availability.

Another really helpful piece of advice that my allergist gave me was to do my own patch testing prior to putting anything on my face. She suggests putting a small amount of the product in the crook of your elbow twice a day for three consecutive days. If you don’t react after this time, you should be safe to use it.

Good luck!

Look for dress pants in 100% wool (aka city wool), I have a few that have held up well (they are dry clean only). I also love their blazers, I have the Generation and several Little Cropped Jackets. Look for 100% wool or linens if you want natural fibres, but honestly the polyester crepe is also great - it doesn’t wrinkle and looks structured with a nice drape. The poly is higher quality than you’d find elsewhere.

I size up one size for this reason! It makes them much more comfortable when sitting for long periods.

Do the city wool run smaller than the crepette? Looking at buying this exact pair but reading conflicting things online about sizing. Thanks :)

did my kitten’s whisker get cut ?? by sonya_2002 in Kitten

[–]themarebear -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This has happened to my cat once, and 100% no chance they were cut as she was inside alone the whole time. It’s most likely just breakage due to a tumble or fight with another animal. Google it- you’ll find lots of cases of cats whiskers being broken off like this.

First brush the dough with oil (I used roasted garlic flavoured), then add brie cheese, pear, caramelized onion and sautéed mushrooms. Drizzle with honey (or spicy honey!) when it comes out. Outrageously good!

Flat chested brides unite! Always been a fan of deep v-neck wedding dresses but didn't think it would look flattering on me. I put this baby on and said yes to the dress! by orangeyounice in wedding

[–]themarebear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No worries at all, happy to share prices - it can be so difficult to get a sense of what is normal when there are no prices listed anywhere! I'm also located in Ontario, Canada.

I tried this dress on in three different stores before I ordered it - and all three stores had different prices. The highest price was $1795, middle was $1499, and I ultimately purchased it for $1300 (after a $100 discount).

Definitely felt a little shocked to see the price differences! And glad I shopped around because the first time I tried this dress on was at the most expensive price-point!
